I had many courses with Prof. Jim through my time at Trent. 6 I think. He was the first teacher in my life that challenged me. I took all his classes because he made me think and learn. Before Prof. Jim, I never tried...passing was enough. He made me cared.

The epitome of academic prowess. Initially he seems intimidating, but he is always eager to help. The man is exceptionally knowledgeable and engaging. He also, for the most part, handles less than intelligent students with a witty yet professional tact. Professor Driscol should be regarded as the posterboy for great professors.

He's really tough. I once got As in 100, now I get B+. He's a challenge but he's brilliant and very nice man! The best part is that his political affiliation/beliefs are undetectable. A true professional does this, not the rest of Trent profs unfortunately.....

Had him years ago for "Liberal Democratic Theory" and quite enjoyed the course. Provided a good grounding in the subject matter. Engaging group discussions in which the theory was related to current political issues. I can still remember some of them more than 15 years later.

Driscoll is an excellent professor, very fair, very professional, and most of all VERY intelligent. What most people don't understand about Driscoll is that he has an excellent & subutle (sometimes almost undetectable) sense of humour. Nice man, great prof.

Comment:

No B.S or compromise. Put the effort into his class and you will be immensely rewarded. Almost having completed my degree I can tell you that you will be hard pressed to find a more intelligent professor in the humanities/social science. The Smoking can't be good though.
