Comment:
Dr. Hatley is a wonderful professor. His lectures--which can be somewhat circular and off topic are always thought provoking and well spoken. There are no tests, but a few papers, many readings and weekly questions to be answered in short paragraph style. Easy grader if you have coherent thoughts. Definitely participate-- he will call on you.

I'm in his class now, and he is a terrible teacher. It's very easy to pass his class, he grades super easy, just do the work. But he's a pompous ass, constantly reminding us "I'm the one with the degree in philosophy", even though it is not even a philosophy class. The class is so boring and he's an idiot. If other teachers are offered, take them.

Such a great class! Definitely take!!! I'm not into philosophy at all but I loved it! It's an interesting class & really gets you to think! Plus it's easy! Classes are always discussions, no work! And no tests! You have to read 2 books and write a few papers, plus weekly homework...as long as you do the work, it's an easy A!

This class is 4 credits so it is some what demanding. consists of discussions, reading a few books, weekly online quizzes, couple papers, attending culture events but no tests. The teacher likes to get people to think by asking questions and playing the devils advocate. He's a nice guy though.since it's a college course, we talk about touchy topics

he's pretty cool. knows a lot about the subject.. basically all class is just discussion. he tends to call on random ppl... no tests, just a few papers nad some movie responses. i would DEF recommend him, even if your not interested in philosophy (he'll make you almost like it)

GREAT TEACHERextremely easy. you have to be an idiot to get lower than a B. There are no tests or quizzes only papers which are asking about your opinion on a certain issue/topic.He doesn't give out less than a B. Im a horrible writer. Also you have to answer questions on some of the readings which are less than ten questions.. easy! TAKE HIM!!!

i never paid any attention in his class, bought/read any of the books or ever asked for help. anyway what im trying to say is i got an A in his class and didn't learn anything. there are no tests, its just all papers and they are hypothetical so you can not be wrong. VERY BORING, bring something to do like suduko during class.

You will never have a time in your life when you can argue back with a teacher. He will ask you why, when you give a response. He will respect any argument you give as long, as you are passionate about it.He wants you to go out on that limb and support your beliefs. Read the stories, they are short and will help your argument if you know your stuff.

He will call you out in class & put you on the spot...but it's worth it because he's an easy grader as long as you're passionate about what you're writing about. Most people don't seem to like this class because you actually have to do the readings and think about them to be able to argue with him. This isn't a high school philosophy class!!

I just hope he retires soon. He is the jerkest of all professors. If you don't kiss ass, he is not interested in helping you. A jackass has more sense of humor than the World of Dew. He sucks. Don't take him.
