He's definitely intimidating. Dr. Keegan is a large, deep voiced professional actor who from the first day will be quoting Shakespeare loudly in your face. But he knows a TON, and if you do your work and pay attention you'll love him. I had him for 3 classes, and he's one of the best professors I've ever had.

Intimidating at first but you eventually warm up to his humor. He is very serious about literature so you must show up and pay attention. Expects you to come to class prepared and demands respect but is always there when you need advice or help on papers. Likes for students to debate and participate in discussions. Really enjoyed the class.

This is my favorite teacher, because he is so knowledgeable and dedicated to what he does. I have taken him three times and every time has been a delight. I wish I could take him again. He is a difficult grader but if you do the readings and participate you will be fine.

He is not as flexible as some other teachers. I do question how he grades. I would recommend to stay on his good side and as long as you do the reading you'll be okay.

This was the first time he taught this course (his wife usually does), and it was excellent. He's a very intelligent, well-spoken, enthusiastic professor. He obviously loves what he does, and it shows. Poetry class was excellent, I loved every bit of it. I've also taken Critical Reading and Writing (hard), Intro to Drama (time-consuming, but very fun) and I will take Short Story with him. It's been very fun, but he's very intimidating at first. Just don't say anything stupid.

Biblical/Classical Lit and American Lit are both excellent. Class is interesting enough that you will learn and remember a lotif you simply pay attention in class, and class is never boring. A very smart, very hilarious professor. Just make sure you READ! And never ever leave in the middle of class.
