Was difficult to really engage in this class or even pay attention to any of the lectures. The professor gives really good feedback on writing assignments but speaks in monotone which it makes it difficult to want to pay attention. This is primarily a writing class and there are no tests, so be prepared to write several papers.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was an excellent instructor and guy. He was so kind to the class. I thorougly enjoyed this class and would love to have him again. He is extremely organized and prompt with returning grades. Great feedback. The work is not hard either and he will even accept things late occasionally. Show up, listen and you're fine.

I took this partly online but basically, wed come in and do an in class participation group assignment each class. Lots of grade boosters as the HW is reading and writing discussion boards. We had 4 essays. Pretty lenient grader. Very nice guy. Id recommend taking him again.

Must be good at reading comprehension and writing Not easy but you learn a lot It challenges you to learn There is a weekly reading and paper that needs to be written for it Easy assignments Just time consuming. I loved it Homework time eight hours wkly If your looking to slack don't take this class Professor gives great feedback

I reached out to Professor Kirkpatrick a couple of times with questions and he is very prompt to respond, ENG is not my favorite subject but he made the class interesting, of course as any ENG class there is a LOT reading and some assignments

Comment:

For a traditional student with a part time job and full class schedule, this class would be great. Very interesting reading. However, if you are non-traditional student with a full-time job and family obligations, beware, this class is not only reading intensive but very writing heavy as well. It was a really good class, but very time consuming.

If you enjoy reading and writing then you'll enjoy this class. The are reader responses due weekly on at least three different stories/poems. There are 3 course test (avg time 2-3 hrs), 1 final (easiest one all year), couple of quizzes and minor writing assignments, and a final research essay. Easy grade, but time consuming due to excessive writing

Whatever u do I would recommend you to not take this professors class, he is the worst teacher because we get essays every single week and those essays turn out to be more than 8 pages along with unit tests every week where you would have to right two full paragraphs per question on the test and tests would be at least between 30-40 questions.

I enjoyed Mr Kirkpatrick class online However The papers were very long He expects you to be passionate about your writings and turn your papers in on time Expect to read and do at least 3 responses within one week Exams are written and multiple choice Research paper Final paper takes a weeks to respond to emails this is annoying

Overall good teacher. Fair grading; plenty of assignments but as long as you read the material (which is mostly very interesting stories in literature) you should know all the answers. Does require you to think on the tests, but that is good for any future occupation. He responded to emails and any clarification I needed.

I took creative writing online with Kirkpatrick. The assignments are very manageable, and usually pretty fun. This is writing intensive (duh). Expect to hand in 45 pages of writing over a semester. Good class, would recommend.

This online class was EASY- SO easy. If you are looking for a class with little to no work, this is it. He is a great teacher and sticks with the dates from the beginning of the semester.
