Comment:
Prof Lawler is a semi-friendly person. I'm not complaining him, I'm complaining this course. If you want to learn something about information system, avoid this course. This course is a writing class! You read the text book then write critiques. It will cost you much time and you learn nothing!

WORST PROFESSOR I have ever come across. IS 617 is a basic IS course and along with 'not' learning anything about IS, you will end up losing all confidence coz even if you prepare and write his assignments well, you will end up getting a 'C'. To be more clear, he'll tell you to write an english essay without even teaching English alphabets. AVOID!!

Comment:
Take this course and you will learn a substantial amount of material with the help of the textbook which was a really great resource (needed for some assignments) as well as the very thought-provoking paper topics that were assigned. A very enjoyable course that I'd recommend to students who actually want to learn! Prof Lawler is also very helpful!

Comment:
Prof Lawler is semi-friendly in person, but comes off as incredibly short and rude in discussion board conversations. Moreover, his grading policy is the most subjective I've experienced in my years of higher education, providing little-to-no explanation for his decisions. Do not take! You will leave frustrated and without any resolution.

DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. PROFESSOR. He is outdated and has an attitude. You have so much reading and he is never clear about the assignments. The idea of the class is sweet, just don't take him. The "easy" A is not "easy" and not worth it.

Interesting class. Here we work with AHRC partners to design websites and help them find jobs. Students write blogs on work with partners and critiques assigned. Students also write midterm and final reflection journals based on experiences and books like miracle boy for inspiration to partners. Do assignments on time do well. Good choice for AOK1

Very unclear assignments and he does not teach. The whole class every week was spent with our partners from the program this class is associated with. You will not learn anything. However, this class is an easy A despite being dry and unstructured. Just show up, work on your website, and do the weekly writing assignments.

No tests. No computer design. Pretty much volunteering work with journals every week. 1 MT paper and 1 Final Paper. Super easy just show up to class and chill. He is not clear at all so be attentive on your own with what needs to be done. You need to finish every tasks he assigns. Easy A and a good experience actually.

Professor Lawler was only helpful after the fact when I had to make up work because my grandfather died while I was taking the class. I think the structure of the class made the material difficult to learn and his high expectations made passing it impossible for me.

UNORGANIZED. Doesn't make any assignments clear and isn't helpful answering any of your questions. So if you have questions about assignments.. good luck.

I took this course because I thought it was a web-design class, but it wasn't. It's mainly focused on volunteering, not computers in the least bit. Overall it was a good experience, I just wish the professor would have made that clear. He has a good heart but generally he seems really nervous and frustrated when you try to ask him questions.

One of the best human being I've come to known over my 23 years of existence. His class was very straight forward, SHOW up to class and do as he asks and you will be fine. He doesn't ask TOOO much, but what he does expect of you, you should do to get an A!

Probably one of the better professors at Pace Univesity, along with a handful of others. This isn't an easy class and you have to work for your grade. The assignments are good, lots of research and personal insight. One of the few classes I took at Pace that made me feel like a grad student. If you're looking for an easy A, I wouldn't take this.

This class was horrible! The assignments are pointless, and not related to the lectures. Supposed to be an introductory course, but I still feel like I know nothing about Information Systems. I will never take another class with him again.

This has had to be the most useless class I have taken in my academic career! His lectures are mind numbingly boring and are very loosely related to the course work that he gives. He nitpicks your errors on reports so forget asking him for any sort of advice. He'll leave you more confused than you started. Bottom line, avoid this professor. AVOID!

This professor actually tried to put a floppy disk in the CD ROM drive. When this did not work out, he called tech support to trouble shoot the problem. So much for being a computer science professor.
