Muir is one of the best profs I've had at the UofW. He is a lenient marker and will help you organize your ideas for an essay. It's easy to get confused because it is philosophy after all, but he will straighten out all your confusion if you just ask! He is very approachable, funny and knowledgeable. Also, his lectures never put me to sleep, bonus!

Dr. Muir is incredibly intelligent and knowledgable in what he teaches. Each lecture was interesting and thought-provoking. Attendance is CRUCIAL to a good grade, as the textbook was useless (full of inaccuracies) and notes aren't posted anywhere. If you can get past his sometimes brusque nature, you'll probably enjoy this class.

Professor Muir is one of the most educated professors I have come across. I only took Philosophy for my humanities and found myself dropping it near midterm time because I found it personally very confusing. It really makes you think. Easy 6 credit hour class for a humanity.

Loved this prof! I took a class with him over ten years ago and he changed my life. He takes you through the books so you don't have to read them. His lectures are so clear that you don't have to ask any questions - unless there is something you clarified. The tests are from the lectures. Dr. Muir was amazing and I cannot recommend him more. Best!

Philosophy is tough and not for everyone but, if you immerse yourself in the material and attend all the lectures the rewards are endless. Dr Muir is a great professor who delivers lectures that are consistently thought provoking, and delivered with humour. Cannot recommend enough, tests are tough so be sure to take good notes.

Anytime you write a paper go and discuss with him first. He will help you talk through your ideas as well as provide sources and specific reading to help you.. I got an A on every paper because of his help - he is extremely nice & approachable. Best professor I've ever had! Cannot thank him enough for the knowledge I've gained!

The exams and papers are graded leniently and fair. Notes are not posted anywhere, therefore attending the class is crucial to pass. By the end of course, you will have a minor understanding of key arguments presented from different philosophers, know many different philosophical jargons and master the art of drawing arrows. +1 for No textbooks.

His knowledge and ability to relate what would otherwise be convoluted Philosophical arguments into our current world and explain them very clearly while making humorous references/bodily actions are great. The exams are hard (it's Philosophy after all) and the essays need to be detailed but just stop by his office and he will clarify everything.

Best lecturer at the U of W. He will inspire you about the material. He has a command of the classroom and a wealth of knowledge to back it up. No one at the U knows more about the philosophy of education than he does.Comments regarding his tendency to preach his own philosophy instead of the material's are true.I recommend him heartily regardless

Increadibly interesting, eye opening, mind altering experience with him. Presents philsophers arguments so convincingly that people get brainwashed into believing some stupid things. Phil department is all messed at the uofw and he may be gone, but if you ever get the chance take a class with him Also gaurenteed B+ or A- with little effort

Good at challenging students and opening up minds to less popular opinions, but teaches his own personal views too much, class is a bit too much his own Philosophy rather than an Intro course. An interesting course to take, but be careful not to be brainwashed.
