A good elective! He's passionate about history and has a good sense of humour! Tests are easy if you attend and study. Attendance is a must because he does not post notes on UR Courses. Also, uses info. from textbook on tests but not having the textbook won't ruin your grade.

Comment:

Definitely recommend him. SO knowledgeable about history and his lectures are always super interesting. He welcomes questions from the class and always has funny stories to tell. His tests are easy, too, as long as you attend class and study. Really glad I took his class!

Comment:

The best prof hands down in the history department. Very knowledgeable and passionate. Learns everyone's name and is willing to answer questions. Tests are fairly simple if you study and attend lectures. Does not use URcourses so attendance is mandatory. Two midterms, one paper, and one final is the make up of his classes. Plan on taking again.

Absolutely fantastic prof. I'm a history major, and absolutely loved him. Very knowledgeable of content (which is always good), and will remember every student's name by the second day of class. I've recommended him to non-history majors so they can take an easy elective and they loved his classes. Take a class from him! seriously!

Agreed! One of the best profs! Before taking this class I had little interest in canadian history. He has a way of making every lecture interesting and romaticizes each battle in the lesson. His tests are pretty easy and he marks very fairly!

Great proff with outstanding knowledge of the subject matter. Textbooks were not manditory however helped if information was unclear. Relativly easy to get a good mark with this proff, very reasonable and interesting.

Professor Pitsula is phenomenal. He's incredibly well versed, and knows his stuff. He's polite and courteous and very inviting. I was never hesitant to talk to him about any topic. He marks easy, and his exams are quite easy as well. All he cares about is that you show sincere interest and make an effort. He's also written a few great books! :)

Jim is one funny guy! Getting up early for class was no big thing because his sense of humour and deep knowledge of the material made me giddy for the day. I messed up on my essay question and wrote on something way off, but he still took it and marked it as if I hadn't. Very helpful, extremely nice.. Take his class!

Without a doubt, the greatest proff at the U of R. He clearly loves what he's doing and it's a joy in itself just to watch him teach; his enthusiasm is infectious. He's also incredibly kind and gave me a chance to pass his class when I should have failed. Amazing. Take his class if you can.

Dr. Pitsula is great, and quite possibly the best prof at the U of R. His classes are always a pleasure to go to; they're clear, concise, and he can make even the most boring subjects interesting. No surprises on tests, though midterms can get a little obscure. This is a class you'll do well in if you pay attention during lectures.

I loved this class because of the prof. He was always so happy and into what he is teaching! The tests seemed to pick out the smallest things, but were easy enough to get a decent grade. The paper was also a good way to boost your grade. I loved the music at the beginning of every class to represent the times and that he knew everyones name!

Fun to go to class because you can tell he enjoys what he teaches and knows the material. Remembers everyones name. Tests tend to have some obscure information on them but that is balanced by the fact you get to choose which questions you answer. Hope to take another class from him.
