Pritchett is absolutely amazing! He is so knowledgeable about everything Africa. His lectures may have little to do with the tests, but you have to go just because he speaks so well. He's motivated so many people in my class alone. Two have already gone to Africa, and many others are planning to move their after graduation. He's just that good

Classes have nothing to do with your grade. You go because he's a great speaker. You watch movies on Fridays, which makes them easy to skip esp bc he doesnt take attendance. The paper is brutally long, but he grades easier on it than his pretty difficult tests. Read the books!!!

James Pritchett is my god. He is the most amazing, intelligent, charismatic, dignified, enthusiastic and interesting professor (possibly even man) I've ever had. I love his class and I love Africa. I learned so much in his class. Two huge thumbs up.

The final paper (30pages) is brutal, but you learn a lot. Very relaxed yet stern...looks for other opportunities for his students, such as class forums with ex-presidentds of African nations.

very enthusiastic and a good speaker. tells a lot of stories from his time in africa, and shows a lot of movies in class. there is A LOT of reading - i had to buy like 6 books for this class. i got behind in the reading,so it screwed me over for quizzes.

Really great speaker; he has a really soothing deep voice and is so knowledgeable and relaxed and enthusiastic about anthropology. Too bad the TFs who teach the discussions make the class horrible.

Very highly recommended. The last project is difficult, prepare yourself. I'm not even an anthropology major and the course still felt meaningful.

Forget main ideas and memorize nitpicky details, and you're set. Quizzes are full of spelling and grammatical mistakes. Good voice, but repeats himself a lot and I found lectures to be extremely boring.

Pritchett is an AMAZING lecturer: eloquent, passionate, and inspiring. The paper is very easy, but the quizzes can be misleading (they are a little tougher than expected). Highly recommended.

Great class-not an anthro major but inspired to be one. He has amazing knowledge of the field & imparts it in a fun but clear way. Just do the reading- most importantly the ethnographies. Enjoy-this class is the best I've taken.Drawback-TF's are awful.

Fun class to fill requirements. The material is pretty interesting and he shows lots of fascinating movies, but his voice is so soothing that it's hard to stay awake in lectures. Definitely a well-qualified teacher, passionate about anthropology.
