Comment:
Very passionate about what he teaches but he definitely expects students to be as informed on the subject matter to his degree. He expects students to be as educated in lingusitics as he is, even when the course being taught is has nothing to do with it. Overall, not the most approachable prof. If you can avoid him, do so.

Dr. Weldon is truly a brilliant professor but has a tendency to sidetrack frequently, causing some to think his lectures are irrelevant or boring (I happen to disagree but I am only one person). His passion for what he does is inspiring though, which shows in those tangents. When the grindstone hits, he gets the job done and will always assist!

I enjoyed some of the material, but not his classes. He put far too many books on the reading list & didn't even analyze them in class. Was unorganized & lost track of time so he spent a month on one novel, then squeezed 3 in a couple weeks. Boring lectures. Spoke as though class had prior knowledge to the subject, although most didn't.

Comment:
The class was interesting overall, but frequently he spends time lecturing the class about the content of the novels instead of analyzing it or providing material we wouldn't know apart from the readings. His marking is unnecessarily difficult, but if you work hard enough your essay, exam and quiz marks can make up for the rest. Be wary.

Amazing. You can tell how passionate he is about Chaucer, and how much he wants the students to appreciate literature from the middle ages. Overall, a funny, charismatic guy who really likes where he is and what he's doing and if you show the same kind of dedication to your work as he puts into his lectures, your mark will reflect that.

A wonderful man, always has time for a student who is putting forth effort. Like any prof, he's arrogant and expects a high level of quality from his students. If you don't put in the effort you will not get his respect, and this is University so that's the way things should be. He's nerdy-cool and KNOWS HIS CHAUCER!

I have taken every course Dr Weldon has taught since coming to Laurier. He's a really great guy, knows his stuff, and if you show enthusiasm he will help you all the way. He demands a lot from his students, but that's university. Talk to him, get to know him and I promise it will be worth it. He has an incredible wealth of knowledge to offer.

Amazing course. A lot of people weren't fond of Dr. Weldon or the course, but students should keep in mind that this is a university course, not a discussion session on your favourite fantasy books. The course was well taught and very interesting.

To Dr. Weldon, Dr. Weldon was the most important and intelligent person in the room, and all you had to do was sit quietly and take in his vast amounts of knowledge. He didn't encourage questions. A lot of other students felt he moved through lectures too quickly, but I thought his speed was alright.
