This teacher is very, very hard to get along with. I have done all the work and put in a LOT of effort but he still gives me bad grades. I've had my work published in the past and yet he tells me it is "mediocre." I don't understand. He also never responds when you need help, just restates the prompt. Not helpful at all!!

This guy is a genius in his own mind. Took philosophy on campus (tapia) and liked it so much I thought I should try another. I did fine, but not because of him. He really is a terrible teacher. I found that if you suck up to him he isn't so mean. Still he shouldn't be teaching if he won't help anyone.

I just finished this class. He is really helpful and the class is hard. I was always worried I woudn't figure it out and then the test would be more than fair and I realized if you do what he says in notes you will do great! Any short cuts will hurt you.

This teacher is helpless. I've asked him with help on a few of my writing assignments and all i got in return was a restatement of the prompt. Like I'm confused not illiterate. I can read what the prompt says. This is the 1st teacher who has ever given me an F on any assignment. And when I asked him about it, he couldn't even give me a good reason.

This instructor is very rigid and not helpful. If you honestly ask for assistance you will not receive it. Learning is not his goal for you. Being right about everything is his goal. I am honors at UCSB and have never had such a poor instructor. Don't take his class (online).

In the online format, he is inflexible, willing to fail students early on. Incident where online sluggishness and his formatting of test added 1.5+ hours to hit next button and wait for systme to process, with all test questions taking at most 30 mins. He won't work with students regardless. Avoid online course with him.

The guy knows his material, but I found his teaching style to be unpleasant. He has a habit of asking the class questions and then waiting until someone in the class answers them and can be quite cutting to the person who gets one wrong.

He can be obnoxious and egotistical, but he knows the material, has a strong background and is a decent teacher most of the time. When he's in a bad mood don't discuss objections to any ideas as he won't humor you. When he's in a good mood however the class is very enjoyable and in depth. Lots of writing to do (don't BS it) Remember names for tests

Mr. Woolever's class is not easy because it takes a lot of writing papers to turn in and a lot of study. Its a 5 unit class, yet the class was interesting and the materials informative. He's not an "easy" grader, so stay on your toes to make a decent grade. You'll like his class if you can write well. Wait till after you take English 1A.

Hes a great teacher, but you need to keep up with the text he assigns, which is considerable. On midterms and finals, just write every little thing you can remeber and you will get at least a B+. Though people have said that the writing load is bad, I slacked off and wrote much less than the required amt and my final grade was an A.

OMG! Way too much work! I'm a UCB student w/3.9 gpa & I still think the work-load is insane: Three 20-page writing assignments, two 10-pg essays (dbl spaced) & midterm/final exams in essay format! He grades easy, but--HOLY!--the work is just toooooo much, especially for a JC. Prepare to write A LOT!

Dr. Woolever is what? A good teacher. His assignments are what? Petty fair. The material is what? Very good. If you keep up with the reading and what? follow the guidelines and what? pay attention... what? You'll do fine. FYI: He does say "what?" about 300 times per class.

Comment:
The online class requires too much writing: Each week required to answer questions from book, each question must take up a page, meaning each week we had 10-12 pages due, plus case studies, midterm and final when applicable. I had to take days off to get it all done. No other complaints.

He is a good teacher and knows what he is talking about. He expects you to write A LOT so dont take his class if you dont like writing. Class is fairly easy and anyone who half asses it should get an A
