I took intro to computer CPTR 1060 with Chen this class was difficult because you have to use microsoft office and it was hard because I never used it before and you basically teach yourself how to do everything I got a A but it wasn't easy at all and he was kind of slow to respond to emails.

Do not take any of his classes. Jan-Jo Chen is not!!!!! a good teacher. I pass the class with a B+ but that was only from prior experience with computer programming. Also, he try to give my class a 15 page term paper on the last week of school so that he could make up for homework assignments that he did not assign the class.

Dr. Chen is the worst professor.He is an ineffective and inefficient professor.Before I complained to the provost office he was thirty minutes late.he says we should peer tutor, but I think students should tutor each other on their own time not during class time.he rarely teaches.I earned a 98 on test 2.he said he teaches at the university of chica

Big problem with HIS understanding YOUR questions. He tends to make things more confusing for that reason. He spends DAYS repeating the same lecture elements, leaving the majority of chapters uncovered yet testable. He's a very nice guy and will help you as much as you need, though. I still recommend against taking him if possible.
