Very distant and unwilling to help for any reason. You better pray you absorb what she says in class the first time she says it or youre not going to pass the tests.

Mrs. Houston is awesome! I had her for the French Civilization: Spring Break In Paris, and it was so great. You attend the class each week to learn about what you'll be doing on the trip. 10/10 would recommend

I've never met a professor who is so unwilling to help. I have taken her for a course before for 3201 and when questions are asked she just says to go read the book. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult you have to pay attention to everything she says in class. After the first test you'll get used to how she tests but that first test is a rude awakening.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS .The class is set up with 4 papers and 2 exams and 1 final. All of the exam are free response and its a writing intensive course. The papers are straight forward not to bad if you follow the grading rubric. The exams are EXTREMELY difficult for a survey course. She take attendance even though it doesn't seem like it.

Horrible teacher. One of the worst in UNCC. Do not take her class unless you have too and its the only one, if not just wait. She does not care about her students and thinks her facts are absolute. Throw out your style of writing because she only accepts hers. She thinks she does not make mistakes and all you do is watch videos.

Do not take her class unless you absolutely have to. I took French civilization with her. Her classes are simple and light we would watch a video for half the class every time. There were 4 essay assignments and 3 tests with all essay questions, she is a very though grader and very unwilling to help even if you are a good student.

Very difficult tests; not a joke class. Show up or fail. But despite that I think she is an excellent teacher, she's super nice and I would definately take her again. Not a lot of work outside class which is good just pay attention during lec and review concepts before tests. Also, she does call on the class but that will help you in the long run

I did not even need to take this course for my major, but I took it anyway and performed below average in this course. She never posts anything on Moodle, so if you want to know your grade, you are going to have to bombard her with emails. A lot of reading and she does not accept absences and she grades her essays harshly.

This class was the toughest one yet. The prof. has no room for slacks. if you don't turn your work in on time, its a minus 10. if you don't come to class, its points off. she acts like she is not taking attendance but she does sneakingly. her tests are very hard. most of them are essay questions and she looks for specifics.

She's the sweetest lady I've ever met! But watch out, her quizzes and tests are pretty difficult so you might want to study extra hard for them. I honestly enjoyed this class and understand concepts that completely went over my head in high school. Merci beaucoup Madam Houston! :)

She is a really nice teacher but avoid this class at all costs. Wayyyy too hard for a 2000 level class. Unless you're good at memorizing a ton of information and regurgitating it back in the form of several essay questions then good luck. I'm counting down the days until this class is over.

I like Mme Houston, but this class was very difficult. Recitation just about every day which was manageable, but the LRC learning environment is distracting & unnecessary. Exams were painfully hard, & you need to be reviewing daily to be prepared. No study guides or exam prep whatsoever. Houston helpful as always, but class was unduly difficult.

All of the French professors at UNCC have a difficult teaching style. Basically the homework you do is what you'll go over in class the next day. She just randomly calls on you in class so if you're like me and don't like being put on the spot then you shouldn't take her. She won't respond to emails. I honestly hate French at uncc

You may think she isn't taking attendance everyday, but trust me. She IS! She's sneaky about it, so show up to class. That being said, she's a sweet lady who is possibly TOO helpful. Be prepared to be called on 2-3 times per class. Just pretend you're contemplating the question and eventually she'll answer it for you or help you on your way.

Mrs. Houston was very sweet and definitely knew the language. She tried to speak to us in French as much as possible, which was great. All tests and quizzes are taken on paper, but the questions are from activities done in class. Attendance is mandatory, so keep that in mind if you sign up for an early class.

One of the easiest teachers i had all semester. She definitely tries to explain the information as clearly to you as possible. I would say as long as your in class, do the online work, and do well on the test and the quizzes you have nothing to worry about.
