Janet is a very nice and caring person, but she honestly CAN NOT TEACH. She jumps around lectures, and is never clear when she is teaching. Her exams are super hard and the questions are so vague and you can't even understand what she is looking for. I basically had to teach myself the entire course.

Janet was not a good teacher. She lectures about insignificant things and doesn't refer to the textbook, like ever, which is odd because all her quizzes are BASED off the textbook. Heavy work assignments.

Her classes are boring. She gives online quizzes with little notice and they are only open for two days and sometimes friday and saturday only. So if your going away for the weekend you're screwed. But the quizzes are pretty easy if you actually do them. Wouldn't recommend this class but if you read the text and are good at guessing mc u'll be fine

Janet is nauseating. Drones on and on about things that are not relevant to the topic. Doesn't even notice that half of the class is staring out the window. You can get through her classes even without attending the classes though so I guess that is a plus.

Very hard marker. Very quiet and boring lectures. If you're not in the front, don't expect to hear her. Not helpful and puts 6-8 chapters for each exam, cramming the last two within the week prior to examination. The fact that I'm wanting to take the course again because I didn't benefit from her says something

Best professor I have had in my 3 years in post secondary, I have not only gone to Capilano University, so I have another institution to compare her to. She is super nice, and very passionate about the course. Some say that her lectures "go off topic". The fact that she has real life knowledge on the course content is very easy to learn from!

Janet is a great prof! I really like her. She will make you WORK. But don't be scared to ask for help! She is super helpful and will give you a straightforward answer. Genuinely cares for students. Class lectures seem to jump around a bit, so pay attention and take good notes!

It is impossible to get the grade you expect. Weekly online quizzes are not related with the lectures.

I'm in my forth year and took this class to get the credit for my degree thinking it would be easy. NOT. Janet Water's lectures help in no way in preparing for exam's. "It's on moodle" is the common phrase but seriously, I took the class to learn from the teacher, not to learn it on my own from the textbook and online.

I am an A student but there is something about Janets class that I just can not overcome. It's a combination of her unorganized notes, lack of thorough explanations , and unrealistically high expectations that will set you up to do poorly. 4th hour assignments are very time consuming and individually worth near to nothing. class midterm avg 69??

Comment:
Janet is really kind and enthusiastic about cognitive psych, but cannot teach. She provides personal examples instead of teaching actual theories. Her notes are extremely unorganized and she jumps back and forth, never giving a straight answer. Questions on the test come out of nowhere and she expects students to do 4th hour as well as labs.

Poor time management skills. Didn't cover all chapters on final and jammed our last 6 chapters into 2 weeks. Spent 3 weeks on 3.5 chapters.

Janet was a terrible teacher. She often talked about her own life stories in class and did not assist in exam or quiz preparation at all. Dont take her class unless u want 30 question, TIMED "quizzes" 2x a week and memorizing ridiculous stats with none of it taught in class. I attended all her classes. Shes also ridiculous marker. Dont expect an A

Boring.. She talked too much about her personal stories rather than prepare you for tests and assignments. Graded at a major level, rather than an intro level. Set you up for failure. Do not take her class.

Janet was very unclear of expectations. I took notes every class. one maybe two points on her 4 pages of notes helped for the 30 question 'quizzes' she administered after every chapter. Her lab report, which she didn't teach how to even do one, was graded at an extremely high level compared to an intro course. Some chapters on final weren't covered

For everyone's information.... Successful students don't take this class. Ever. If they walked in accidentally they leave on the same day and never look back.

Janet makes this class incredibly hard. Her exam and weekly quiz questions are very theoretical and unclear. Her lab report assignment was ridiculous for an intro to psych class. She is a hard marker and expects way too much from you. Only take this class if you have an insane amount of freetime to dedicate to her class.

Janet is super nice, but she sometimes goes off topic during lectures. Get the outlines for the powerpoints off moodle before class or you'll have trouble taking everything down because she goes past slides really quickly sometimes. (Other times she'll stay on the same slide for ages, though.) Quiz questions can be iffy, but they're open book.

In Spring 2012: Cog and Fall 2013: personality theories, both classes were amazing. I loved her stories and the fact she really cares about her student. She is very encouraging - get to know her! Her exams are hard but fair. Great Prof!
