Religiously read the textbook. The lectures are based off case studies which can be very confusing.

She's a really nice women, but she teaches through case studies which doesn't work for everyone. Really read the book and take notes from readings in case it is not covered in lecture and you'll be fine. Study really hard for any type of biochemistry related test she gives, they are a lot harder than the usual exams.

This course in general is designed to try to kick pre-biology freshman out of the course because Geneseo is unable to handle the large amount of biology majors. So naturally this course is very difficult. Lewis does not make it any better. She gave us a test on 9 Chapters while other sections of 117 had a test on 4 chapters for exam one.

Lectures are all over the place and often do not cover what is in the book or test. Read the textbook religiously and you'll have a better chance.

This class is intended to be a weed-out class, so the tests are pretty difficult. I started to realize that all of the material was in the textbook and that lectures weren't all too important. The best way to prepare for exams is to find practice questions online. As long as you keep up with the material outside of class you'll be fine.

She's a fantastic teacher (MUCH better than Muench). I wish she taught the whole year. Do quizzes in groups, readscan the text before every class, go to class (duh), and go to the SI sessions and professor review sessions. Dr. Lewis is very kind, approachable, and knowledgeable so don't be afraid to ask her questions as you go.

Lewis is my favorite bio professor I've had. She is a great lecturer and very understanding. However, this is not high school anymore; You have to read the textbook if you want a good grade. There is a lot of info in gen bio and you it's up to you to understand it. Go to the TA every week for review and go to Lewis' review sessions before the test.

Tests are challenging, specific and somewhat confusing. Not very good at explaining things. Online quizzes and chapter tutorials will help your grade, most answers are already online.

I love her! She is very approachable and a fair grader. Biochemistry is a tough subject, but her class is taught straight from the textbook. Just do your readings, understand the material, and you should be fine. Very helpful in office hours too. Take a class with her!

She is a pretty good teacher but only teaches half the class while another teaches the rest. Prs questions are a joke and they hardly ever work. Online quizzes are a pain if the wifi doesn't work you can't go back. Very difficult tests that ask specific questions not really relating to class discussions.

She is so nice and knows a LOT about what she is teaching. Also has a lot of energy. Made me excited to go to class. Tough grader, but it is an upper level Bio so I believe it is fair as well.

How can you all rate a professor on a class that's run primarily by the ULIs? Dr. Lewis is a phenomenal professor and incredibly personable. She is more than willing to make time for students that make the effort to meet w/ her. I've taken courses specifically because she teaches them. I HIGHLY recommend her for someone with a true passion for bio!

Pre-lab was awful and the only point is the 10 minute quizzes. She lectures about random stuff that usually have nothing to do with the lab of thr week. In lab, she doesn't really do much because its mostly your ULI. But when grading lab reports and stuff, she takes forever and doesn't explain your grades well.

Very grating, annoying voice. She seems completely unprofessional and couldn't do simple math but expects us to do concentration questions without teaching us about ANYTHING. Posters and presentations were extremely annoying, freshmen bio just tends to suck.

Depends more of which ULI you get, the Lewis basically didn't teach anything we didn't, all the teaching was done by ULI's who are also students mind you, not teachers. You need to follow instructions word for word to get a decent grade. This class was so annoying but I guess necessary

Pre lab lecture breakdown: 10 mins on a multiple choice quiz, 30 minutes of her talking about things not pertaining to the lab at all and making horrible jokes, 10 minutes talking about the actual lab, then leave 10 minutes early. Needs to calm it down with the microphone and laser pointer.
