I took this class as an elective, and it wasn't too bad. Jean is nice, and very passionate about the subject, however, she can be a bit kooky at times. She'll call you out in class for answers or for being on your phone so watch out for that.

Jean is such a brilliant and interesting professor overall, she'll really make you love anth. I really liked taking ANTH 101 with Jean and did quite well but I found she marked quite a bit harder for SAN 242. The tests were marked fairly but small writing assignments were marked quite harshly with very little feedback about what could be corrected.

One of the most dedicated and caring profs I have ever had. She's not a prof in my major but I changed my minor just to keep taking classes with her because she is so inspiring and makes you fall in love with the topics. She makes the class fair and is a great marker. Sometimes little bit disorganized but makes up for it with extra credit.

She really genuinely cares about her students and loves class participation ( she will randomly call on you). She breaks down large abstract concepts into solid, concrete ideas. She is a bit disorganized and tends to ramble a off topic. Despite this, I'd take her course again. Plus, shes an easy marker.

Interesting and fun lady, she is a tiny bit disorganized but not enough that it cuts into your course quality. Wants the best for everybody in the course. Had two exams in class and one take home, if you go to class and read the books the exams are easy. Books for the course are really cheap which is a bonus. Grades kindly and would recommend.

Lectures are pretty long and most times boring. She expects you to know what she is talking about and is not very clear. She calls everyone out and it is extremely stressful to sit in class not knowing what is going on and being so scared to be called on. With all that said, she is always there to meet with you and help you through a project.

Jean Mitchell is one of the best professors on campus. She is very helpful and extremely friendly. Although she sometimes calls out names when she asks questions she does not expect you to have the perfect answer, but she does expect you to try.

Sex, Gender and Society is such an enjoyable course. Jean is so passionate about her lectures, anthropology and her students. I found her lectures to be inspiring and incredibly thought provoking. Would definitely take more classes from her again. Be sure to do your readings each week so you can better understand course material.

Jean is a wonderfully inspiring professor. Her enthusiasm, dedication to student success, and in-depth knowledge of the subject all results in the most wonderful learning experience you could have at UPEI. She is very helpful in class, but also outside of class she will always (gently) push you towards success. Take a course with her, no regrets.

Dr. Mitchell was by far one of the most engaged professors I've had at UPEI to date. She is extremely interested in both the course material and student input. If you listen to her lectures, read the textbooks, and know the articles, you will do very well in her class.

She's awesome! She fricken' loves anthropology. If you're vocal in class she will love you. Know the books otherwise you're screwed though. Her class was my best mark this year and I thought for sure it would be my lowest going into the course.

Nice, interesting person. My complaint about this course was that the exams were based on the text mainly and hardly on class lectures. We were given a very helpful list of potential questions to study for the exam but in order to answer them I had to re-read the textbooks so I considered this one of my hardest courses.

At first she seems awesome but do not piss her off as she has a horrible mean side too. Courses are easy and fun but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who wants a bit of understanding now and then.
