She told us on the first night that no one would get an A for just doing the assignments - they were reserved for people who knocked her socks off. If she had been anyone else I would have walked out, but she had so much charisma that I had to see what she could teach me. I don't regret my B - it was the most I've ever learned in a writing class.

A passive aggressive teacher watch out about yourgrade,She helps you write better,(so go toher for free) but do not take a chance in her classs for an A, she will not tell you till lastminute when it is too late.,,but,, she tells other professors yourmistakes, kind of a spy and leads youon about your grade, too bad her personality problems harm her

I took this class on-line. Some of the comments she posted about students writing were publicly humiliating and personal. Unless you have a pristine copy of your story and really thick skin don't take this class. Also she rarely points out what students are doing right only what the mistakes are and she gives kudos to similar critiques. Hated her c

I should've done this 4 years ago. Jeannie will change the way you think about writing, yours and that of others. She is a mistress of craft and its importance. She'll push you to your perceived limits and beyond, if you enter her bailiwick with a open mind and thick skin. She was the best mentor I could've hoped for, and also a great friend.

Learned so much from her class. Be prepared to develop a thick skin and sense of humor. At least one class with Jeanne is a must - as long as you are a CRW major. Otherwise, stick with a more 'mellow' prof.

Abrasive, opinionated and unorthodox. Caters to creative writing majors since she's their advisor. I had no idea of grade until last day, which I didn't like. Very entertaining though, and knows her stuff, but not a teacher for everybody. Plus, I got a B when I know I should have had an A.

She was very animated and made workshopping fun. She isn't so much rude, as blunt, but in a helpful way. And she uses unorthodox, but understandable, explanations of how to correct flaws and utilize fiction techniques that make the class even more fun.

Be prepared to work in her class, but also be prepared to learn. Her workshop is practical and fair. She can be slightly intimidating, but she is extremely good at what she does, and writers can learn a lot from her workshops.
