This was one of the most interesting classes I've taken at Elon - and it is VERY discussion based. If you don't want to participate, this is not the class being said. However, this class is extremely rewarding. If you're looking to think about religion as a whole and why you believe what you do, this class will really make you think.

Pugh made learning about religion an incredible experience bc of the way the course was taught, the lectures, student engagement, expectations, and deep thoughful questions. This class has been my favorite class and i would take him again in a heart beat. He isn't an easy A and expects hard work, but as long as you apply yourself, you will be fine

I have never taken a religion class before and I really like this one. He is very funny and gives reasonable tests. Most/all assignments are "take-home". There is a lot of reading but most discussions in class are based around it so if you don't read just listen. He is big on participation and really likes for his students to be engaged.

Dr. Pugh is one of the best teachers I have ever had! The class is almost completely discussion based, and he will add in little stories that are interesting and are very relevant to the content.

I had Dr. Pugh for study abroad in Hawaii for winter term. HE IS THE MAN. He is thought provoking, honest, and genuine. He takes interest in students and wants to see you succeed. He is one of the best teachers here at Elon. TAKE HIM.

I took intro to Religious Studies with Dr. Pugh several years ago and absolutely loved it. His class is one I still talk about every time I discuss my experiences at Elon. As a professor myself now, Dr. Pugh's enthusiasm and teaching style is always at the back of my head and I try to emulate it in the class rom. He is an amazing teacher!

Such a smart man with so much to offer. He plays "devil's advocate" sometimes to make you really think for yourself. As a minister now, I realize how influential he was in helping me see faith and religion as intellectual concepts.

Prof. Pugh is AWESOME! he is the most interesting teacher i have had yet at elon. he made every class so entertaining and i left everyday in the best mood. theres some heavy writing in the class but its so worth it, you will learn so much about yourself. definitley take his class!!!

Amazing teacher, by far one of the best professors and class I've ever had at Elon. Take it, even if you're interested in religion or not-its fascinating. Very easy class in terms of work load, but he pushes you to think and actually understand the material. Never a boring class!

crazy man - wont put up with**** - very boring and confusing, papers arent easy, but he is very clear as to what he expects of them and grades them pretty fairly - makes a point to know all of his students - intimidating bc hes just so damn smart
