All of his tests are from notes taken in class, so either don't skip or make sure to get notes from someone else. There are three papers, three tests, and one final exam. If you study, they aren't too hard, however they are all short answer. He's understanding when it comes to deadlines and is willing to work with you if you ask.

kinda boring, class consists of lectures and writing notes with no variety. tests are long in-class essays. very knowledgeable but not very open to perspectives that don't match his. i got away with not reading the textbook at all

Homework is challenging and class averages for tests often landed in 'C' territory. He will allow you to push back assignments if life interferes. Many students in this class had to crack their books open for their first time in the department; he makes you earn your grade. He earned my respect by the end of the semester; solid instructor.

Grading seems arbitrary, with little explanation offered for lost points. No sympathy for criers. Will work with students experiencing life issues if additional time is needed for homework. Expects class to come in early on snow days.

I loved this class. I only took it to fulfill my humanities req. and it was totally worth it. He's clear and concise and I haven't had to read anything he's assigned in order to understand it. The only assignments are the 4 exams and 3 papers. I completely recommend this class and professor.

Dr. Konz is the most professorly professor I've ever met, if that makes sense. He presents the information clearly without bias. He has great notes and he obviously knows his subject extremely well. I've found his class enjoyable and very easy. If you need help, he does his best to be there for you. Also, he has great fashion sense!

ya i took this guy... seems kind of neutral to start off with and pretty knowledgeable of the subject, but then comes to show he makes assumptions about people, grades extremely unfair upon his assumptions and overall is shown in the light to be one shrew dude, not kool bro

Dr. Konz is a great professor. Very clear, very helpful, and very nice. He has high expectations for his students which are reflected in his exam and essay grading, but if you show up to class and take notes, you will do well.

Dr. Konz is by far the best professor at UNCA and outstanding in his fields of economics and social ethics. Congrats to him on being promoted to Dean of Social Sciences - a well deserved position. Though I may not have made the highest grade in his class I certainly wouldn't miss taking another with him in the future.

Konz can be intense, but he keeps the class up to speed. Very thorough and scholarly. His grading can be tough and his tests are hard, but it's nothing he didn't cover in class. He isn't very approachable outside of class...kinda awkward/quiet. I would take him for every econ course if I could. The best professor in the department.

Just the worst economics professsor on the entire face of the earth. He is very mean, and a bad grader. He cares less about his students and he makes sure that getting just a "C" is like going to heaven. You will lose your butt just to get a passing grade. Avoid him at all cost or you risk failing
