One of the most knowledgeable marketing profs at MUN. Lots of great stories. A lot of class participation expected, he often gets frustrated when people don't speak. He also has a grader, which made it hard to get high marks. All in all.... highly recommend him and the course!

This Prof is world renowned marketer. He was by far the best Professor I have had at MUN. His genuine enthusiasm about teaching really made class interesting. Amazing speaker, enjoys when students get involved in class discussions. As for grading, he can be tough; tends to give 79% to A students. One piece of advice, NEVER be late for his class

To add to the last review, Dr. Barnes is a real world teacher. He demands professionalism from his students. If you want to prepare for the "real world", Jim Barnes will be a great aid. If every professor were the same, every graduate of MUN Business would be a sucess. It's unfortunate that all professors don't have as high standards.

Dr. Barnes is a fantastic professor. This man has years of real world experience. He has written several highly noted books that have been referenced by a variety scholarly journals, he is a practicing professional who seems to be known and used around the globe, and he was (if i remember correctly) the first dean of the business school at mun.
