If he doesn't like the format of your essays or your ideas about things then you can forget getting a good grade. We more or less debated in class and didn't really learn about philosophy.

Easy, good class - but don't take it if you aren't willing to step back with an open mind and critically analyze your own beliefs. Grade is determined only by 3 short papers - be logical and creative and there's no reason you shouldn't get at least a B. Dr. Edwards is the nicest guy and you can tell that he loves philosophy as well as his students

Edwards is truly an impressive man. Even when you think he's dead wrong, you can't help but feel compelled and stimulated by him intellectually and even spiritually. I certainly respect and love him a lot and think that everyone should be introduced to philosophy through his class.

Dr. Edwards' class has been my favorite class at Furman thus far. He is incredibly passionate about philosophy and loves to wrestle with new ideas that his students present. The reading was minimal, and it's not hard to pull off a good grade without keeping up with it. Great class! Take him!!!

Edwards rocked. The class was always interesting and discussion was great. I read almost none of the material and made an A. Even so, I learned a lot. If you can write papers you'll be fine.

Maybe the best teacher at Furman. Don't leave without taking him. Has an unparalleled passion for what he teaches, and genuinely wants every student to understand philosophy and succeed. Brilliant, hilarious, easy and willing to discuss outside of class- yeah, I've basically got a man-crush on him!

Great Professor! He is very exciting to listen to, he's a very smart man who loves philosophy. The grades in the class are 2 papers 20% each, 40% final exam essay, and 10% participation grade. All papers are out of class. Very interesting class. If you are going to take PHL, i would recommend Edwards

Brilliant man. Passionate about Philosophy. Only 2 essays (the only grades) for the whole year, and then the exam, however, so be confident in your writing ability if you plan to take it. HIGHLY recommend.

A very knowledgeable philosopher who does well in explaining philosophical concepts. However, not as gifted in leading and holding a discussion. If philosophy classes were primarily lecture based, he would get full marks.

He is not bad, some of his points are too far out there. It is not that he is a brilliant man he just seems to be out of the norm. Sometimes distracting.
