He's a great professor who grades fairly and explains the assignments well. You don't have to show up to class, but he gives extra credit and pop quizzes sometimes. Easy A as long as you go over the study guide he gives for each test, it's based almost completely on the book because he usually just talks about politics and current events in class.

I am currently a Senior at Chico, and of all the classes I've taken during my college career this one was the best. Dr. Jacob's depth of knowledge is amazing and he presents the information in entertaining and interesting fashion. He continuously finds ways to weave the content of the course into real-life world events.

This man is amazing. He has good humor and plenty of good stories that relate to what we learn in class. The class is extremely straightforward, he has very specific expectations of what he wants from his class and is an all around great guy to listen you.

He is incredibly intelligent, and very interesting material. He is funny, and the "big paper" is done in sections that makes it simple. He makes sure you're prepared for Town Hall and his TA Thompson is hot. What more could you want out of a class?

Dr. Jacob is an awesome instructor who is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about political science. He gives you the notes for his lectures so you don't have to frantically write down everything on the powerpoints. This class was very interesting. I would definitely recommend.

He's a nice guy...but he changes the syllabus at least once a week. He'll also be sure that everybody in the class knows he studied at Harvard and Cornell. He tells the same story like 5 times to. Attendance isnt required but he will extra credit on some random day late in the semester if you show up (unannounced obviously)

Absolutely obsessed with himself. If it truly is the case that he is as esteemed as he daily reminds us that he is then he would let his merit speak for itself rather than telling tall tales about classes he has had before or his time at Cornell. His arrogance is palpable and a sad coping method for his insecurities. Avoid.

Probably the smartest professor I've ever had. He seems to know every detail about every issue going on in the world which is amazing. 15 page paper is due which kinda sucks, but his tests are online and fairly easy. I would take him again. Class is always interesting because he makes it funny as well as insightful. Take him!

I loved this class. An insightful, funny and knowledgeable professor who has stories like no other. The class will challenge you, given you have a 15 page paper, but it's worth it. Whether you are interested in Pol. sci or are just taking it for GE, take Jacob. If given the opportunity I will take another one of his courses without hesitation.

Prof. Jacob is so knowledgeable; it's a great just listening to his ideas. He made lecture interesting; occasionally showed a funny picture or video. As long as you pay attention, keep up with the reading, and study (like you are suppose too) you will do great in this class. He also offers extra credit if you attend S.I. which is awesome!

Dr. Jacob is one of the smartest and worldly men I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to!The material on the tests is covered in lecture and discussion but is mostly left up to the student to read and review.Do the readings, review the course concepts and kick ass at town hall. All you have to do is care about the course and you'll do fine!

He's an energetic and interesting lecturer. He does not cover all the material in lecture, so do the assigned readings. Tests are challenging, do not underestimate this GE class. Observe his vast collection of polos. He's pretty liberal (but he's right, so who cares?)

This man should stick to research and give up teaching. Spent the entire semester talking about current events and his views on irrelevant subjects. Material covered on midterm and final exam had been largely left out in his so-called "lecture." Unfortunate that he is the only professor teaching this class req'd of POLS majors.

I would not recommend this teacher. He spends the entire class talking about his opinion on one subject or another and his tests are based on material that was never brought up or discussed. When you decide to get this class requirement, take it with someone else instead.

This is a relatively easy class with only 3 components, a midterm, a research paper and a final. The tests are right out of the book and his lecture style is interesting - its mostly about current events. His view points are a little radical but he makes it funny. A bit arrogant about his academic history but nothing unbearable.

Jim is a solidly decent teacher. He's not amazing. On the bright side, he's a very eloquent man with a very thorough grasp on political problems and structures and can express that well. But on the other hand, he can be a bit dry, is a little too left-leaning for even MY tastes, and isn't very helpful to students individually. Not bad, not great.

Great teacher who is very knowledgeable in international relations. The accusation of him being liberal seems unfair as he seems fairly conservative to me on international relations issues. His lectures are all about current events and not on what will be on tests, but the tests come straight from the book and online notes-very straight forward.
