Comment:
Dr. LaGrand's voice sounds like Kermit the Frog at half speed which wasn't the kind of thing I was looking forward to for an early morning lecture. LaGrand is nice, caring, and knowledgeable, but I honestly found the class boring. He would often spend too much time on his first point and then rush the other 2 or 3. Overall, he was an ok professor.

Had him for the lecture portion of HIST142. It was pretty boring but I wouldn't neccesarily blame him for that. He definitely knows what he's talking about. I would say he's a good choice for people with an interest in history

LaGrand is a great guy and a great lecturer. You really don't need the textbook as every bit of lecture is straight from it. Gives you essay exam questions a week in advance, which are simple if you took notes. Only a couple short papers and thesis cards otherwise, as well as short weekly quizzes. Can't say enough good things about LaGrand.

Professor LaGrand is such a good teacher! He's a sweetheart a knows a lot about what he's talking about! we usually ran out of time in class because he had so much to say. his tests aren't hard if you take the time to prepare for them because they are essays. its a lot of reading that you're supposed to do but you don't really have to do it all

Consists of non mandatory seminars and lectures where most of the grade comes from. Weekly quizzes, two main book readings, two main papers, and three exams consisting of the bulk of the grade. Must prepare well for exams, but if you do the work, you can expect to receive a pretty good grade. Would recommend over other history professors for gened.

Very nice guy. During lectures he often spends a lot of time on the first half of the information then rushes through the last half. Open to ideas. You know exactly what to expect on tests, but a lot of studying. Overall he's a good professor.

Good Professor, as a grader he is fair, but you put in is what you get. Explains things well, and lectures are informative and interesting (However, I'm a History Major, so yes I find them interesting, results may vary per student though).

Lagrand handled this class pretty well. lmost all the readings were useless but he did a fairly decent job of explaning them. no real practical application, purely academic, IMO. tests are hard because they are standardized for the dept. not my cup of tea as for the class but prof wasnt bad. take it from him over others for sure.

He is very interesting in his lectures, but he's a tough grader. He gives you plenty of chances for extra credit so it's not that bad. If you want to learn, he's your guy.

Maybe it's just the topic: History. I was sleepy all the time. But he defintely knows his stuff. He taught with energy and enthusiasm and the voice of Kermit the Frog...or ray Romano now that I think about it....you guys were right. Great guy though.

Prof. Lagrand is a very knowledgable professor of history. High expectations are key in his class -- but just do the work and you will succeed.
