Comment:

He was an awesome teacher, I had him last year. I think students complain about him because they were used to high school English. Jim gave you lee-way to take whatever route you wanted in your writing, as long as you wrote well and it was relevant! Most people are too used to slack teachers, Jim sure wasn't that!

I really enjoyed taking English with Jim. He has a wonderful sense of humor and was very clear with his instructions. He actually cleared up a few things that I was never really sure of. I would certainly take another course that he was teaching.

I was not very happy with this semester with Jim, but I don't know if it is his norm as he was away most of the time. It was difficult to go through the course without a proper teacher, although I did enjoy his sense of humour when he was there.

I think Jim is a great teacher and that some students just can't handle honesty and are looking for an easy grade. His instructions were always very clear, and his grading was fair (even if I did want a better one :-) School isn't supposed to be easy, we can't have delinquents being doctors now can we?

Jim is a great guy, but not so great as a progf. He doesn't really explain what he is looking for in great detail, or if he does he doesn't leave any room for creativity in your work. I went from a B+ in English to a C- in English all because of the difference in teachers, not because of my comprehension of the English language.

If he doesn't like you from the start just run! Can be a very rude teacher and outspoken at times. Grades very hard for the students he doesn't like and grades very good if he likes you. I would not recommend him at all. But if you had a choice between him or Margaret Williams I'd barley choose him over her.
