Crazy passionate about what he teaches. Clear concepts and examples to back them up. Really wants students to succeed and understand the material and more importantly the real-life applications of it. Can be a little loopy and corny at times, but pretty chill overall. Would definitely recommend.

This guy loves what he teaches. His lectures always includes fun participation activities to help you grasp the concepts and it was all relatively simple stuff. He also seems like a really kind man and his eyes are beautiful.

Jim Schaefer is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is an effective lecturer but also made the classes interactive which I enjoyed. His feedback on assignments was clear and grading was fair. He is passionate about the course material which made me very excited to listen to what he had to say.

One of the best professors I've had. He's passionate about what he teaches which really helps foster your interest in the subjects. He's very helpful, approachable, and delivers enjoyable and impactful lectures. I didn't give him a high mark for easiness which isn't a bad thing if you want to learn more, you have to work for it.

One of my favourites - fantastic teacher! His slides are great (when he uses them). Overheads - not so much: they're bare bones and lack the detail found in his slides. You'll need to listen even more closely when he's using them. Textbook is a bazillion years old. I didn't buy it and did fine without it. Gives you a cheat sheet for the exam!

He's very excited about population ecology. Love his silly puns and hand gestures. Lost of formulas and the labs are absolutely HORRIBLE. T.A.'s in my labs were useless and didn't seem to know any more about the subject than I did.

Jim's knowledge of the relevant scientific literature is superb. Whenever I needed a resource for a paper he could find me something within minutes. His teaching style reminds me of a good lawyer in front of a jury. He really makes a convincing case for whatever concept being taught and he's got a good sense of humour if you're paying attention.
