Comment:

Take intro poli sci with her! Dr. Grace knows her stuff, and teaches with enthusiasm. She encourages class discussion but keeps things on topic. Tests are challenging but she's not a hard marker. Makes good use of Nexus and responds to emails quickly, even on weekends! A real gem of a teacher (even if we have very different political views).

I appreciate Joan Grace because she sets clear criteria of what she expects of you and how you can work to succeed in her class. She's clearly intelligent and understands what she's talking about, and her passion shines through. I didn't find the course entirely difficult, but I'd imagine if you didn't show up you'd have a tough time.

by far one of the most efficient & prepared teachers I ever had at the U of W. She has great lecture notes, very clear and well laid out - which she posts online after every class. Her exams are always whats expected, just do the readings and take good notes and you'll be fine. I asked for a reference letter and she was eager to help & be involved

Her lectures and seminars are challenging and it is necessary that you avoid missing class but you will benefit greatly by learning from her. She is approachable and helpful outside of class. Her expectations for exams and assignments are incredibly clear.

I changed my tune. I had her Canadian Politics and wasn't a fan but took her class on Social Movements and thoroughly enjoyed it. She was helpful, organized, and offered up clear expectations of what she required to hand out an A. Her tests aren't easy and showing up to class is a must - you can't get buy by reading alone.

Fantastic prof! Very cogent and informative lectures, and it is obvious that she wants her students to succeed. She maintains a positive environment conducive to learning, and is happy to help clear up any ambiguity regarding course material. I highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Grace!

Consider me a fan. I took this and a seminar course w/ her. She loves the subject and it shows. She's not afraid to challenge ur views, which is good training for the real world. She was v popular amongst my classmates as well for good reason. In the community, she is also called upon by media as an expert in Cdn politics. In short, she's my fave.

Grace is one of the finest teachers at the UofW, you walk away knowing things you did now know before. Unpretentious, keeps it mad real and makes Canadian Federalism a interesting topic, no easy feat. Reigns in no-it-all students so class stays in track, she is professional and an obvious hard worker, takes teaching seriously which is a nice change

Great prof! May have a "left- wing" stance on many issues, she is incredibly neutral, or atleast transparent in her biases. Failry easy course if you do some reading and attend classes. She makes CanPol more exciting than it could be otherwise. Very friendly and accomodating.

Best Prof I've ever had. Incredibly clear and organized in both lectures and responses to papers/exams. Joan is more than willing to help you with anything you take to her and is fantastically intelligent. She has little time for arrogance, especially when the person is uninformed.
