Rest in Peace, Professor Joan Miller. I have never, ever enjoyed a 9 am class until attending yours. I'm not a science person and you truly made anthropology fun and easy to learn. I am still overwhelmed by your loss and truly miss seeing your smiling, happy face every other morning. You were one of my favorite teachers.

Rest in peace Pr Miller. Thanks for being a great teacher. I enjoyed going to your office hours and hearing your life stories of visiting friends/family in Chicago. The zoo project was one of my best learning experiences. I can't believe you knew the orangutan I observed for an hour. I'll always remember you.

Great teacher! Assignments and instructions unclear at times. Make sure you know deadlines for all quizzes. Everything pretty much online! 30 points of extra credit possible. WORK ON QUIZZES IN GROUPS and you'll do great!

ANTH 101- A waste of time! A pretty easy A (with all the extra credit), but a joke of a class, she loves primates but has a hard time getting anyone who doesn't convinced. I learned nothing in this class, online quizzes make up pretty much all of the grade and you use the book.

Most disorganized professor I have ever had! Class was easy, but very frustrating as she could never stay on topic for more than 5 min. Movies shown were interesting, but obviously shown because she was unprepared for class. She is really nice and understanding person, but as a professor she is irritating and useless.

Joan is AWESOME! She picks very interesting movies to watch. There are quizzes most classes which are easy as long as you watched the movie, easy points. 2 tests. 1 essay that is easy and fun. I would take this class with joan!

super easy teacher. when she finally did get the class started, after stalling with funny stories, her lectures were well taught and very interesting. All quizzes were online and there were a lot of technical difficulties but she would usually let us all take it again. there wasn't a final and class was not mandatory. I loved this class. RECOMMEND

unorganized, wouldn't start lecture until 15 min after class started, barely covers material, talks mostly about personal life/experiences. says that study guide covers what will be on the test, but the study guide got me a C on every test. never know when she will do clicker questions. zoo project is cool. she's so nice but all over the place.

Lets be real, this is the easiest class at state. Take it hybrid. You go once a week, take 20 online quizzes and go to the zoo. Thats it. Joan is so chill, if you talk to her she'll let you make up things you missed. Theres 20 pts extra credit available. And you can just use google when you take the quizzes. Its so easy.

She regularly gets to class 5-10 minutes late. At least three times she didn't show up and her T.A. just put on a movie after a while. Once she gets to class late she tells stories for an extra 15 minutes. then lectures for 20. And some classes she does an in class quiz which is worth 10 sometimes(about2%) so attendance is mandatory.

Terrible teacher! She was 2 months late posting the class grades and shen she did they were wrong, and took another month to correct them. Extremely unorganized and difficult to get a hold of. Class periods were spent going over the mistakes she had made on blackboard rather than lecturing. Only take her if you want to deal with frustration

She gets very preachy and talks about her pay cut all the time. The grades came in 3 weeks late. But her teaching was not too bad. The class is pretty easy but the last test is pretty hard. I read in the beginning of the year, but i stopped after the 1st week. Easy B without too much work. I got an A but studied for it

I had no interest in Anthro until taking Miller's class last summer. I wanted to switch my major to Anthro halfway through the class. Pretty easy class. She's available in office hours to help you. Funny, sweet, good teacher.

Terrible professor. Takes her at least 30 minutes to get the class started every single time. She's amazing at wasting time. She just stands up front and chats with people instead of starting the stupid movie. Incredibly slow grader. It's been weeks since the final and the grades still aren't up even though final grades were due yesterday.

She is probably the most irresponsible teacher that I've taken. Always LATE. Seldom reply email. Answered call in class and asked us to say hello to that person. She made me confusing all the time from syllabus to study guide. She has so many unofficial furlough days. I believe she can find excuses for what I said above as she always does.
