Comment:
Jochen is passionate about what he teaches. If anyone at this university was to teach a class about aging, he is the guy for the job. However, all of the lecture material is research articles. This class would be better if we actually took lectures in chapters. He is kind of funny, and personable. Like him and the class, don't love the structure.

Very passionate prof. Aging and Physical Activity was one of my favourite classes. 2 midterms, a Group project and paper but if you put in the effort and participate in class you should do fine. No textbook but a lot of reading research articles.

One of my most enthusiastic professors so far in my academic career. On the first day of class, he did a handstand to demonstrate a concept! However, I found that he grades exams quite tough. I finished tests feeling like I did a lot better than the mark I received soon after. He tries to make a dry class more exciting, overall a good intro to stat

The worst class I have ever taken. I studied very hard for all the exams and still did horribly on them. He is unclear and uses examples that serve no purpose towards the course and make no sense. I would never recommend this class to anybody. Worst class I have EVER took.

Strongly AVOID taking this class. The prof's slides are unhelpful, the textbook was the only helpful thing thru the course. He does not give you a marking rubric before your group presentation/paper and then tears everyone apart in front of other classmates after. He is stuck in his ways and is not helpful if you set up a meeting outside of class.

Jochen is a great guy, always a pleasure to chat with and very passionate about his work. Having said that, his teaching style is very confusing, uses absurd examples to explain mind-boggingly simple things, and has no real marking rubric for his exams (just reads the answer and assigns a grade on how he feels about it).

This class was extremely boring, but I do like Jochen as a prof (had him in other classes). He is a tough marker for papers and exams. However, if you go to his office to ask questions or review a paper/exam, he is quite helpful

Really nice Professor. You cant tell he enjoys what he does and does try his best to present info in a way you?ll understand. On top of the class being very hard, his teaching style did not work for me and he is a HARD marker. :(

Excellent grasp of research and methodology concepts. Class and instruction was interesting and it was apparent that he had enthusiasm for the subject. I appreciated that he was approachable and would take time with students to provide extra support. I really felt like he cared about students as individuals and tried to get to know each one of us.

Great Professor. I took several of his classes and enjoyed them. He is very wiling to help you out and get to know each of his students. My only complaint is that he sometimes has a tough time explaining things is a way that people who are not as knowledgable as him will understand.

Jochen has good intentions and tries hard, but ends making even more of a mess of things when he uses his examples to explain things. He doens't know how to explain things using just words, he has to use examples. Material was boring as hell, can't believe this class is a pre-req for most other KNES

Dr. Bocksnick is a frustrating man and a frustrating professor. Just because he has a PhD doesn't mean he should be in front of a class. He clouds concepts with numerous examples. He doesn't make expectations clear and it is difficult to complete assignments and exams because of this. I will be careful in the future not to take a class with him.

HORRIBLE prof. Should not be teaching but in a lab. Hard to understand. It is very unclear what you need to know for the test. Showing up for class is a bore, but when you do it is UNCLEAR what he is trying to make a point of teaching. Final assignment is ridiculous- no one knew wtf to do with it! Don`t teach, stay in a laboratory where you belong!

Bocksnick was good. He has an accent that is fun to listen to. The material was horrible. I really didn't like the class. I think he did the best he could to convey the material to us in a way we could understand. I wish that his lecture notes we posted a few days before hand though.
