Comment:
The class was very easy. One paper due every week and I did not even read the assigned reading and still ended up with a high grade on each paper. The class lasted around 3 hours so he lectured for an hour and we watched videos or movies for the rest of the time. Boring class if you do not like politics or economics but easy A.

Comment:
Volpe is a nice guy, his grading scale is a lot better than what I had to deal with in 150 with another professor. His curves on the tests are fantastic, don't worry about doing bad on a test because with the curve, it will not be as bad as you think. There are 3 tests and then the final. I like how he cracks jokes amongst students, he's great.

Comment:
Volpe is surper dorky and energetic about the subject he teachers, so it makes the class engaging. He's extremely clear about what he expects you to knowdo, but thorough note taking is a must because the class is not easy if you actually want to understand the material. If you genuinely enjoy philosophy, you will use your brain and be satisfied.

Comment:
Dr. Volpe is pretty good and he knows what he is doing. He sometimes get really excited about the topic but his class is fun to listen. There are no tests just 4 " take home tests" which are essays. He gives a week to write and you hand the hard copy before the due date. He is there to help, and he is a easy grader.

volpe definitely knows his stuff. he's passionate about his class but he talks SO much. i found the class itself really boring. we focused on word diagrams and whether reasons/conclusions were true/valid. a pointless class. easy if you pay attention. if you're taking it b/c it's required + you pay minimal attention, you'll be fine. i expect a C.

Prof. Volpe is the greatest philosophy professor there is! Take him during the summer! There is two test and one final! He gives you a outline for each test so you will know what will be on it! He provides clear and distinct examples so you can understand! I loved this class and I'm not even a fan of philosophy!

Volpe's class was difficult, but he helps a lot. If you are confused, just ask for help. It is not HIM, as a professor, that is the problem, it is the subject itself (critical thinking.) I somehow managed an A when I anticipated a B, he definately uses a large curve not only on the exams, but also at the end of the semester for final grades.

He is great professor; however, the material of the course is difficult and useless. There are 4 cumulative exams. I wouldn't take this course again.

Volpe is the man! I took his critical thinking class and it is an absolute MUST for anyone thinking about law school (this basically teaches for the LR section) or anyone who wants to take an amazing professor. It was 3-4 short tests and a final, and he curves the tests to help students. He is extremely passionate/smart and I recommend him to all

this guy is great, before the class i absolutely hated the idea of having to take philosophy..he made it very interesting and also responds well to the reactions of his students.. bottom line, if you read the material and have an in class discussion about it, he will love you forever..he gets excited when his students are learning, amazing guy

interesting class...somewhat difficult...although not too many papers (take home tests) the prof is a very nice person and a dedicated teacher...his enthusiasm for the subject is apparent...he goes in a slow pace, but it is neccessary I think. Take at least one of his classes.
