Dr. Barrington is fantastic. I'm not a history person, but he managed to make me relatively excited about class every day. His lectures are engaging and he draws awesome maps. Tests and quizzes are not hard as long as you take copious amounts of notes. Highly recommend.

Best class I have ever taken in my entire life. Prior to this class I was considering being a history major and now I definitely am. Dr. Barrington is an AMAZING professor. His lectures are very interesting and easy to follow and take notes. His tests and quizzes are straight-foward and relatively easy if you study! Definitely take him for a class!

Dr. B is amazing! He's the kindest professor I've had at Furman and genuinely cares about students. Fair tester/grader--you must study, but he's not out to trick you on tests. Passionate about history, easy to follow, and brought us cookies one day when we had class in the Walden cabin...so cute! Draws awesome maps. Nice accent. I'm obsessed!

Hands down, Barrington is by far the best history professor I've had at Furman. Extremely approachable, always willing to help. Test material mostly comes from notes, and he doesn't try to trick you. He even brought sandwiches to class one day because we were studying the Earl of Sandwich. Epic.

Great teacher. Had him for HST of NA to 1877. Study the heck out of your class notes! PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. Other than that, just know the class notes like the back of your hand; they'll teach you a lot and help you with his thorough test essays. Fair grader, great teacher, no curveballs on tests but you MUST study!

Dr. Barrington was an awesome professor. He gave a two papers and two big tests. Grades hard on papers and essays for tests, but if you are a good writer than you should be fine. Excellent teacher and makes class interesting. I Recommend him and if you get the chance to take him do it especially over other teachers.

I absolutely ADORE Dr. B and traveled with him on study abroad. He really cares about his students as people and will go out of his way to address any issue or problem you may have, related to class or not. Lectures are engaging and clear. TAKE HIS CLASS! By far, one of the best professor's I've had here.

Dr. B is great. Lectures are usually entertaining (but can long during winter term). Textbook RARELY use. Any information on the tests were covered in class. Pay attention and take notes and you'll be more than fine. I got an A and studied day before/day of test. He's an interesting guy, and makes all things connect somehow throughout histor

Dr. Barrington amazed me with his content knowledge, and his classes were fairly interesting for a lecture class. Make sure to keep yourself organized with assignments, but take heart, because he can usually be swayed to cancel class or extend a paper deadline. Caring teacher, eager to help. Don't bother buying the book-won't use it. Quizzes=hard.

Absolutely one of the best professors at FU. He's a super nice guy and has a great sense of humor. His tests are straight from the lectures and he gives you a study guide for every test. He's very helpful and will always answer questions. Plus, he has an amazing talent of drawing maps freehand. Just to watch him draw is enough reason to take him.

He is an excellent teacher that doesn't use the book and gives out study guides before each lesson. The tests come straight from the study guides and the tests are probably the easiest you will take at Furman!!

He is by far one of the best professors I've had at Furman. His tests are all lecture and most of your grade rides on 2 papers and "participation". He is VERY passionate and helpful. Don't take anyone else for History! Also, he has a great british accent which makes listening to his lectures a lot of fun:)

See post from 4/18/04 because that also applies to this class. However, Barrington is cool as heck. You don't really have to read the textbook, just listen and take good notes during his lectures because that's all you'll need when studying for his tests.
