475 would be unbearable if it wasn't for Dr. Boyce. He makes extremely difficult, intricate material much easier to understand. His lectures are one of a kind, if you are an Econ major you HAVE to take a class with Boyce. They are purely fantastic, engaging and entertaining. He is extremely fair when grading, expect to work but you will be rewarded

Probably my favorite prof throughout my degree. He gives you all kinds of practice material with the answers for you to do long before the exams. If you do them you'll do great, exams are just like the practice. Loves to help in office hours. Anyone complaining that he's a poor prof for 405 just didn't put in the necessary effort.

John is a great guy and very down to earth. Sometime can be found giving the odd humblebragg, but otherwise, a great guy. It is easy to see the guy is brilliant, but unfortunately his teaching style assumes that everyone is able to follow along with his very abstract teaching style. For that reason I found him to be a smart prof, but poor teacher.

Boyce is passionate about his work and very helpful - you can stop by his office and bug him anytime. His assignments are time-consuming and require careful thought, but you will learn a lot. If you're doing an honors degree, take 387 with Boyce. It will give you a very strong mathematical foundation for future courses.

Boyce is extremely nice, very down to earth. He is helpful and patient, you can stop by his office pretty much any time and bug him with questions. He teaches lots of course materials at fast pace, be prepared. Final is pretty easy, make sure you go to the final review session, he'd tell you what's on and whats not on the final! You'd learn a lot

The best econ prof in u of c. He really really cares about his students and you can contact him any time. You can literally go to his office knowing nothing and he will teach you everything step by step. Be prepared though, because the material he teaches you is equal to taking three other econ courses together. Tough but extremely fair.

Dr. Boyce enjoys making students squirm but it's to our advantage. It wasn't until after taking 387 with him that I realized that it was actually for my benefit because every other course just seemed easy. Tough teacher but a great guy.

Dr. Boyce is the absolute best econ prof at the u of c. His teaching style is highly engaging and he's super chill and FREAKING HILARIOUS. Loved every moment in his class, deff the best class I've taken so far in university. Highly recommended!! :)

Hard class but not impossible. Goes through material very quickly but is very helpful and he wanted his students to succeed. DO NOT miss any lectures and form groups to work through assignments. Easy marks but require lots of work. Midterm is a killer (avg= <50%) but gets curves through the roof. By far one of the best I've had had at the U of C!!!

Dr. Boyce made the course very difficult, perhaps too difficult (the average was somewhere in the high 50s if memory serves); however, in saying that, you will learn a tremendous amount of useful economic techniques from him and your ability to perform well in other economics courses will be greatly improved.
