Had a good time in class. talked about lots of current topics which were interesting. Mostly used case studies to teach major points. Cannot understand why people rated him low on this site. Do the work and you will get a good grade.

Utterly useless professor to be avoided at all costs. While he expects you to provide him feedback mid-semester you will not receive any until after the class has ended. But you will listen to him bloviate endlessly on topics unrelated to the one being taught. He is a one-man argument against tenure.

All I can say is wow. If it wasn't for the stuff I had to teach myself to do the final project I would not have learned anything in this class. Don't expect to discuss finance topics as he expects you to already know them. When you don't you will feel like an idiot from his responses. You will not get any grades until after you take the final.

It was an absolute waste of $1800.I learned absolutely nothing in this class. He gives no guidance in the final project and then attempts to belittle you in front of the entire class. He is a pompous prick. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES with him or you will be sorry. We did not use a calculator the entire semester. Loyola should get rid of him! He sucks.

This guy is the worst! I had him for inter. finance and never once used a calcualtor. He just rambles on and then has the nerve to ask about his in class rambles on the final. Example final questions: what's my dog's name? or what time is it here if its 11pm in Sydney? Oh.. did I mention he's a pompous prick. I got an A-

This guy is pretty useless. Expects you to know how to calculate financial statistics. All case based text. Does not explain anything. No way to gauge progress during semester, only grades are in final classes. Can be sarcastic and demoralizing to students. Warning! Do not bring up spreadsheet during final presentation - he will drill you on it.

Light work-load, not much instruction during course. Hand in "lessons learned" each week and read case studies. No graded deliverables until final project. Handed out course evaluations before last class. Gave no guidance then ripped final presentations to shreds in front of entire class. Grades entirely based on his perception.

Started off easy, all case studies without a single deliverable. Mostly in-class discusions. Gave out evaluations before the last class then in the last class he became an obnoxious jerk during final presentations. If you see his name on a syllabus, run away. You will learn more from reading the text on your own. He wasn't helpful with ?'s.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had at loyola. This man does not teach. Prepare to get close with your text book and teach EVERYTHING to yourself. Feel free to take his class if you want an "A", but be prepared to feel cheated out of $1500. Mr. Cotner was consistently late for class, if he made it at all. There was no real teaching of financial strategy concepts or applications. I and others feel less knowledgeable about financial strategy after taking his class.
