I had professor Davis for Sociology 1. he does give homework each week and does not require a text. the homework will make you think outside of the box. his tests are easy if you attend class and take notes. he also goes over what will be on the quiz the day of it. if you want a good grade in his class be ready to attend class and work for it.

He teaches you true critical thinking skills and prepares you for upper-division courses. His test are very easy if you go to class and take good notes to study. I really enjoyed taking this class. I feel like he really cares about his students and does everything in his power to see students succeed. Though this is not an easy class, and you will have to do a lot of thinking, in the end, you will feel a sense of accomplishment. Again, Mr. Davis really helped me in this class and I'm glad I took it!

Class never lasts the full three hours and it's a good mix of mostly lectures and some non-graded group work and discussion. Majority of your final grade will come from a term-long paper and short three tests, so don't skimp on them. If you're someone who loves lecture-structured classes the most, as I am, Davis' class is great. His lectures are A+

If you take this class, just hang on. Prof Davis places a high degree of emphasis on learning though class and outside reading. There won't be much in the way of assignments but you had better get to class and be ready to answer questions and participate. This class is quite a bit of fun when you want to get away from quizes and worksheets.

Go to class every day and do all homework assignments as expected and you will be fine. He is a genius so he is difficult to follow at times, but he welcomes questions with open arms. He has very sloppy writing, but just ask him what it says and he will clarify. As well as good sense of humor! Davis is one of the best professors on this campus.

Anyone who does every homework assignment can easily pass this class. His feedbackguidelines for the term paper allows for the essay to basically write itself. Tests require a basic understanding of the concepts and lectures are always interesting and insightful. A true genius and great teacher.

The students leaving negative feedback most likely failed his class and are simply whining. Overlook their comments. If you choose Mr. Davis as your instructor you must be ready to participate, open your mind, and work hard. Above all, you must be willing to learn. He is extremely helpful and truly wants you to succeed.

If you are a lazy student then look elsewhere. John Davis was my Philosophy professor, and no, his class wasn't easy but I still got an A. His lectures are engaging and relevant. Assignments are straightforward. He prepares you thoroughly to write a solid A paper. I still apply what I learned in his class. Yup, he has a personality. Outstanding!

I loved taking Philosophy with Mr. Davis. Expectations are clear cut, lectures are organized, everyone knows what they're supposed to do to get an A from day 2 becuz he gives written & verbal instructions. Very good about returning emails. READS each n every paper and gives specific feedback. Really wants you do to well and earn a gd grade.

Although he was very confusing, he was helpful whenever I had any questions, he did his best to answer them. His tests are easy except for the 3rd quiz. You basically just have to write a paper turn in a few homework assignments, and do well in the quizzes and you'll get an A.

Professor Davis is a very intelligent man. He'll definitely challenge you to THINK about what texts and documents mean. He's not very structured but, that will require that YOU remain structured, attend class, and know what the hell is going on (read the material). This class will be hard for people who expect a college class to be like high school

Extreamly difcult class! He lectures in circles. Tests are extreamly hard to understand. Did not use a text book his tests are on hand outs and his lectures. If you take this class use a tape recorder. The group project was rediculous and is worth 40% of your grade. Most group members did not participate and I ended up doing all the work.

If taking this class, you must be willing to actually attend, be involved, and think. Very dry sense of humor, but if you bring yours, it will be a very fun class. Davis is a very well-rounded, intelligent man. The rest of these reviewers likely failed; don't listen to them.
