diercks was a jerk and i'm glad he's retiring. he's the one who wanted to have 8 am classes, and he would make people who asked questions feel dumb for asking. his exams were impossible.

Definitely a good guy outside of the classroom, but has a very dry, boring teaching style. The material isn't very difficult, although labs are often long and tedious. Class is a good indicator if you truly are meteorology material. In the end, he teaches a good class, but he's just not outstanding.

Dr. Diercks is the MAN. Though the class is at 8am, this is the most interesting class I have. That's why I choose PSU. His quizes and tests are based on your real understanding on meteorology. His test awards is cool, a meteo book. I am fighting to get the 2nd book he offer as a gift to hi-scorer.

I'm not a meteo major anymore solely because of this class. He's old, monotonous, makes bad jokes, and gives you nasty looks. It's an 8AM class, the lights are dim, the seats are comfy, the tests are ridiculous. Which leaves us with this equation: Diercks + You + Meteo201 = Worst College Experience.

Well...prof. Diercks really should be thankful he doesn't teach elementary school....because he would cause a riot on the 4 day.... he is very good at what he teaches, but he makes it boring as hell..I think i will sell tapes of lectures as sleep aides

guy's very serious and seems really grumpy often, i walked into class late one day and i was scared he'd snap my head off the way he stared at me, good teacher but very boring, i love meteorology but i find myself falling asleep in his class often

This class is a good test of whether Meteo is the right major for you or not. Its at 8 am, and Dr. Diercks can be very monotone at times. If you can keep attention and focus and enjoy this class, youll see how good a teacher he is.

The best way to do well with Diercks is to meet him during his office hours or some time outside of class. Show him your enthusiasm for the class. I met with him before class started and I was the only student he knew by name on the first day.
