Dr. Foster is a great man. His assignments, however, are all online (other than the speeches, of course). Your grades are pretty much you teaching yourself about the chapters via McGraw-Hill and learning the fundamentals of speech on your own. He seldom will teach out of the book. DO THE CHAPTERS. He's not stingy with late work, that's nice.

John Foster seems like a pretty cool guy. And he can be, but rarely. Get ready for lots of McGraw Hill online work, because this guy gives it. And when I say gives it, I mean you'll be reading chapers and taking 10 point post tests after each. Be prepared to study your speeches as well. For the sake of your grade, be decent at speaking before time.

Dr. Foster is a great professor. People may disagree with some of his ideology or how hard his tests are, but this is college! He is genuinely nice. If you invest your time and effort, there is no way you will not pass the class with less than an A! He will help you any way he can. Get his help early on, and you will have a good semester!

Seems like a nice guy but most of the class he talks about subjects that are irrelevant to the class. Being a beginner speech class he expects too much and grades speeches way to hard, especially for a non-major class. Tests are ridiculously hard and he doesn't curve.

Worst class I've ever taken. He makes everything way harder than its supposed to be just so he can make a point. Really nice guy but needs to find a new career

Dr. Foster needs to stick to SPEECH. The majority of our class was spent listening to him complain about social security and hearing how "climate change is a big lie." Dr. Foster, your P.hD. is in Speech Communications, NOT science. Leave the science to those qualified to speak on it.

Dr. Foster is a good teacher. His test are not hard. I am a shy person so I didn't like the presentations so much. Overall, he's pretty descent in my book.

I took his speech 1010 class & I WOULD NOT TAKE HIS CLASS AGIAN. he doesnt give clear due dates, or announce assignements but expect you to do it (bc it was on the syllubus). 90% of the class is listening to other students speeches which is kind of fun but the other 10% he lecutres. & those are confusing and off topic.

I have had him for many classes. He makes all of his classes WAY harder than they should be. He is a nice guy, but not a very good teacher. He has a military mentality and it shows. AVOID AT ALL COST!

You would think a Communications class is a BS class, but guess again. He gives you study guides for his tests, but the tests are still pretty challenging. There are 10 essay questions on the first two tests that are pretty long and the last test is a take-home test. He grades the speeches harder than you would think.

He basically outlines exactly what he wants from you with each speech. Plus, it helps that he's a good speaker himself, seems self-assured. However, he grades pretty hard for a beginning speech class, and his tests are pretty hard. Also, he tends to use the class to push his republican views on people, A LOT. But overall, recommendable teacher.

This guy should stick to rhetoric. He has no clue what he is doing teaching a theory based class. He teaches only one theory and ignores other comparative theories. He tests on the books that he never goes over but the books are actually pretty good overviews. He is not helpful and doesn't answer questions.

Pretty interesting and entertaining. His tests are easy if you follow the study guides and... study! Takes his upper level classes out to eat sometimes as well. He's one of those "I'll push you to do your best" kind of professors.
