Discrete math by itself is hard, but it's even harder when the professor is confusing and boring

He knows the material, just not how to teach it. If you want to understand it, you're better off doing it on your own. Luckily, there's a pretty heavy curve, so getting a good grade isn't too difficult.

Discrete math is a math class yet Professor Geske never gives any homework and expects people to be able to do the problems. He gives notes that are several years old and consistently makes mistakes while copying the notes onto the chalk board. The class is only graded based on 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final.

"It's trivial". He doesn't answer questions, and he copies straight off of notes that are several years old.

The class was very challenging due to the material the class covers. The class has a huge curve but as long as you pay attention in class and study for the test it is possible to receive an A without the curve. He made most of the material clear as long as you had some understanding and worked toward understanding it.

Took an audit with a different professor because I wasn't happy with my grade. BIG MISTAKE. Makes many mistakes at the board. Erases content many times immediately after writing it instead of removing old material. Tried talking to him a couple of times, but it fell on deaf ears. Removes material from "comprehensive exams" if students know it.

If you understand the material in his Discrete Math class, then you're probably the only one who does. He curves the class, greatly. His vocabulary is difficult to understand.

Horrible lecturer - reads from slides taken directly from book. Grades on a significant curve and provides very little feedback on submitted projects. You will get a 50% on your projects, yet at the end of the term you miraculously end up with an A+. Not a good class if you actually care to get constructive feedback.

Hands down the worst professor I have had in my academic career. His lectures were read verbatim from slides. He provided NO feedback on tests, assignments, or project - merely posted the grade on Blackboard. If he did respond to email questions, his response was useless. He curves massively, so stick with him and you'll probably get an A.

Makes for good discussion (usually getting off track), but rather vague in what he expects. Our group didn't know how to list requirements until after our first draft, when he finally gave us an example. Few examples, with little or no help from the books, made the planning and documentation portion of this class a horrible mess.

Java is a hard concept to grasp. Uses words that he does not define and moves very fast. With java, you either have it or you dont, so the teachers curve is what counts (which is HUGE in his class). If you understand 75% of the material you will get a 95...

Hate to break it to all of you complainers, but Java I is the class they use to weed out the ones who don't belong in the CS program. If you can't hack Java I, then you seriously don't belong in the CS program. Geske, being the head of the CS dept., is simply more anal about weeding out those who don't belong. Great prof when I had him.

The class was hard and he didn't make it much easier. If you've programmed before then you might understand him, but for some people that I know who has had a programming experience even told me that what he is going over is hard. He's helpful during office hours, if you count writing your program for you helpful. Don't take!

If you know a bit about programming, you'll ace the class. If you don't know didly about programming, by the time the class is done, you still won't know didly, but you'll have an 85 to show for it. Best Curve at KU

The worst professor I've had at KU. For one, he doesn't really care if you don't get it, and he teaches the course as if you have programmed before. He MAY be good for advanced programmers or what not, be he is HORRIBLE for beginners. Imagine my surprise when I found out he was the department head. Doesn't understand the fundamentals of teaching.

Extremely easy to pass the class with minimal effort.I did less than half the labs and got below 30% on all the exams and got a 76 in class with the 3rd lowest grade out of a huge class..Went to class once a week if that..Extreamly boring professor!!!
