Comment:

He's so funny! I enjoyed his classes overall, however he's definitely a tough grader. He does curse a bit but nothing that I or anyone else has found offensive to my knowledge. And he is also open towards using people's preferred pronouns.

How you feel about him will depend entirely on how much you like to write. If writing isn't your thing, you'll probably hate him. Personally, I liked him. He really encouraged me and affirmed my abilities as a writer. Just be aware, he WILL call on you during class. Also, technology isn't his thing, so don't expect to email him.

I have gone on to get two Bachelor's degrees beside the AA I earned from CCC. Mr. Gibbs is the best professor I have had because he truly prepares students for higher education. I have heard people say he is tough, but the experiences he brings to his lectures are wonderful and he will turn students into excellent technical writers.

Professor Gibbs was amazing!I took his English 102 class. A friend recommended him to me and I did not regret taking his class once. His lectures were entertaining and he keeps things simple and relatable. The papers were easy, he explained what he was looking for and was always available for help. He used the book often so make sure to buy it!

I took Masterpieces of Western Literature with John Gibbs. He is a great teacher. I learned a lot about various Western Literature books. I never would have read it if it wasn't for this class. He is a very nice teacher and funny. He opens up a whole new world of literature. I would recommend this course to students who love reading.

He is honestly one of the best English teachers out there! He makes class interesting and is quite humorous! I strongly recommend him to anyone who has to take this course! The only thing wrong is that he doesn't use email, you have to call his office for a question.

Professor Gibbs is an awesome, amazing, one-of-a-kind professor. He is truly the best ENG101/ENG102(HON) professor I could ever have. He was very helpful, gave great advice and wisdom, and helped me understand how to proofread and edit my essays (which is very, very important.) You won't regret taking him. I promise. He is truly the best!

Great professor. I took him for bother english 1 and 2. He gives a lot of papers, but it helps your grade. It gives you room to bring your grade up if you have a bad paper or two. You will learn a lot in his class. He cares about his students and always gives clear answers to questions.

Easy C. If you want to get general classes out of the way then choose Gibbs. He is an Easy C if you just turn your papers in. He doe grade grammar, so don't be lazy. Compared to other professors, this is the easiest and least stressful professor for General English.

He was a great teacher. He will go out of his way to help you if you need it. He will accept your papers late as long as you speak with him. He loves the subject and he is easy as long as you do the papers. He does numerous examples of what should be on the papers. I definitely recommend him.

Knows his stuff. He makes you work for your grade which isn't a bad thing. Explains things in detail and makes sure everyone knows the material.
