took his western civilization history class. the way he teaches makes me want to skip all of his classes. a poor lecturer if you ask me. took his class only to fulfill one of the graduation requirement.

Doctor Klassen was one of my favourite professors, and one of the very best TWU ever had. Extremely knowledgeable and educated, I learned so much in his classes. Always went the extra distance to help students, and conducted simulating in class conversations. He had an awesome dry sense of humour too! I hope you're enjoying retirement John!

this man is the best thing that ever happened to Trinity Western. He is brilliant and will bend over backwards to help any student. He does demand a lot of work, but it pays off because you learn a lot and the class is most enjoyable. Dr. Klassen: you are absolutely fantastic!

Klassen was a good prof, I enjoyed his classes. He's willing to help outside of class and loves to talk with students. He is a feminist in a sense - you will see how feminism was a part in almost every historical event.

John is an odd man, with funny glasses. however, he is a nice man deep down and genuinely cares - just dont expect to learn anything. HORRIBLE lecturer, no organization, no ref to text, no coherance. very hard to figure out wat he wants on assignments; truly, the challenge of the course.

Comment:
He makes amusing little comments in class, but otherwise he has an uncanny ability to make people feel less than an inch tall. If you want to talk in discussion groups make sure that you say the right thing in the right way otherwise you will get shot down in front of the whole class. Caution!!

He's extremely funny...but you have to like his jokes, they're all through his lectures. He is very clear and helpful for papers and research. Go to him even if he's not your prof if you have problems in history classes. Follow his comments on papers/assignments, you'll do fine.

Easygoing, I felt that I can voice my opinions about historical events without whiplash. Probably the best prof I had in my first year. Marking was a little unclear at first, but by the time of the essay I was smoking in this class. (unlike Shelvey's)

Cares about his students and wants them to do well. Perhaps a little unclear about expectations for assignments so if new to class, might have to expect "sacrificing" first assignment to figure out what he wants. Grades: u get what you put int

This man is the reason I came to TWU. Dr. Klassen expects you to be able to think for yourself - he is not going to spoon-feed you. Dialogue in class, read your material, do not slack off and you will do well.

The only challenging part of the class is actually figuring out what he expects on the assignments. Ofcorse not knowing what he wants makes everything else difficult.
