I would not recommend skipping his class at all because you will probably get lost. John is amazing at teaching and is probably one of my favourite profs so far. Hes very helpful and makes accounting interesting. Hes funny and is very willing to help anyone.

Had John for Managerial Accounting last fall. Good guy, and was very thorough in his lectures. He was a bit of a tough nut, but meant well. Don't get on his bad side, or else he will really have it in for you. If that happens then, it means you have done something wrong.
