Don't believe really old reviews about this class. Slides are provided. His tests are fair as he will only test you on topics that he spend the most time on. He wants you to do well. 30% essay, 30% midterm, 60% exam. If you don't want to do the essay, you have the option of doing a presentation. an A is definitely attainable

This class&proff are not bad at all. I took this class in Winter 2016. He does post slides online on his website. Textbook readings are not required. Test material is from lecture only. Tests are long answer questions but he will give you very fair questions (topics he talked about most). attend the first class and see for yourself

Dr. McDermott is an amazing professor. The course material was incredible and mind blowing, and Dr. McDermott is passionate about the subject. I would highly recommend his class!

Most difficult course I've ever taken. Reading material is extremely complex, and most of what he talks about is not in the textbook, slides are not accessible outside of class and not taught in an organized manner. Talked about signalliing pathways the whole course but only taught about the pathways the last class. Never studied so much in my life

He's an amazing guy, but seriously, steer clear of this class. One essay (30%), one midterm (30%), one exam (40%). He has absolutely NO online resources, he has no slides, he literally just stands there and talks. He has pictures to explain what he's saying, but they're not from the text and he doesn't give access to them. HORRIBLE COURSE!!!

I had a hard time keeping up with him. Lectures weren't very organized and theres wayyyy too much material for a course that was half-year. It was nice that he invited questions but I dent find it helped much. Quote, "If you want better than 80 in my class you have to tell me things I didnt teach you." plus, evaluations have too fEw questions!

His lectures are very interesting and easy to follow. Doesn't post notes though so you have to make sure you keep up with his presentations and attend the lectures. The test questions are fair but he gave only 2 questions on midterm and 4 on exam so you really had to know your stuff. Overall McDermott is a great proff

this prof. is amazing, approachable, very nice, and insanely smart. the class was very interesting and ppl can ask as many questions as they want and he doesnt rush things at the end of the class. He always tried to make sure that everything is understood. just amazing.. the lectures were very interesting. The test were very reasonable and fair

Extremely smart man, very approachable, scottish accent on the most unscottish looking person. Tests are fair, advanced subject though. He tends to teach like its a conference though, hard to take proper notes.

This prof can't lecture worth a sh*t - the odd time, he'd surprise us and actually make a logical/interesting presentation. Reading material was extremely difficult & induced sudden migraines but midterms were pretty fair considering. He also gives you choice on what questions to answer. Nice guy!

WORST PROF! I didn't understand a word this guy was saying!?! But I got 'A's in other physio. classes so I know it's not me. He makes everything so much more complicated than it is, not to mention boring! AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN!!!
