Comment:

Doesn't give homework except your regular textbook readings, and offers an option to do a 5-paged double-spaced paper for a Quiz grade. Gives "general" study guides prior to each exam. Very knowledgeable, but it's difficult to wrap your head around concepts. I studied hard for this course, and my grade reflected it.

Comment:

Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go to the lectures you wont need the $300 textbook. He is not a hard grader and gives pre-quizzes with answers that basically mirror the quizzes you actually get graded on. I found all of his lectures to be engaging and educational, you just have to be patient. An easy A class if you care about the material.

Many people think Prof. Phelan is boring, but really it is just a tough subject to teach. No one can really get excited about econ. Anyway, he knows everything there is to know about econ and has worked in the field. Though he doesn't exactly reach out to his students like other professors would, he is as passionate about the econ as possible.

do not take class w/ prof phelan. hes not helpful at all and could care less about your grade. hes bitter if you ask him about extra credit, which he refuses to offer. if you come to him about help he'll tell you to go to the tutor rather than offer his own help. about 8 kids have dropped the course so far, everyone gets Cs Ds and Fs on quizes

Try avoid taking this class! This man is very boring all he does every class is draw and graph and talk about it the whole time. Asking him questions is useless and he is not specific about the tests. He just tells you to study the chapter and when the tests comes around your lost! Very boring no one pays attention and everyone brings their laptop.

Prof. Phelan background is very interesting and helpful. He took time to assist me and I appreciated. I like the subject, however it was not easy to understand and one cannot blame him. Micro-Economics is not everyones favorite topic.I would take another class if he was the teacher.
