John was a great prof for this class. If you do your readings and attend class you'll do great. Make sure you do well on each test, since there are only 3 that make up the entire grade. He gives amazing feedback and if you go to his office hours he is willing to go over any of the material for however long you need. Go to class and do your readings

This dude needs to take a chill pill... he requires a doctor's note if you want to use your laptop in class to take notes. He never has structured notes and its really hard to pick up everything he says because when he gets really passionate about something his noufy accent comes out. Probs wont take any of his courses again.

Great guy and great prof! Makes boring material interesting and engages students! He makes an effort to get to know his students which is nice! Sit up front, go to every class, read the text book and you can do really well! He gives out study questions and his exams and marking is fair... Would definitely take his courses again!

I LOVE DR. PHYNE. He is by far my favourite prof at X. He makes the lectures engaging and is very clear on what he expects. He really wants you to do well, and he is extremely personable with his students. His tests are very clear and he gives out study questions beforehand. I wish he could be my prof for all my classes

John Phyne is a good teacher,but the context is so boring.He is a very nice man, but very hard to understand (clarity wise), Sociology with him is hard because it is all lectures.Very hard class.I advise to take SOC but not take it with him.

Phyne has a format of 2 midterms and a final each semester and all of them are 3 questions which means you need to know your material. He marks fairly tough, but is very approachable and teachers the work very well in class. Do the readings and a 60-70 is easy to get if not higher.

This was my worst class this year! Not marks wise, I found him very easy - if you read the textbook you'll be fine. However his lectures were incredibly dull. And stop talking about cod fish! Reccommended if all you want is a class with no papers and that you can skip once in awhile.

Mixed feelings about this one. Good guy, loved the floyd & the caffeine..but if tests aren't your stong point i'd refrain. You're only marked on your midterms/finals. No other opportunity to make up marks. He does know what he's talking about tho..and like I said, he's a Floyd fan.
