Comment:

I took this class as a half summer class, found this to be very difficult. Take in a normal semester for sure. Prof. is very much a stickler for the rules, some classmates complained, but they were the ones late or not following directions that he was VERY clear about. Consider his class an example of the real world. Do what you're supposed to do.

I was so nervous about taking public speaking but he made it so much fun and he really helps you prepare. As long as you come to class and actually practice your speeches with your powerpoints you should get an easy A. I would take his class again if I had to.

Although many others say he is a tough grader, I managed to get a 92.6% in the class with only slightly above average effort. he gives clear criteria to organize your speech with and if you follow it and don't skip class you'll do fine. My only complaint is the grading isn't fair. He had no bad things to say about my final speech yet gave me a 93%.

worse professor ever. I ended up having to withdraw from his class. he does not teach you how to "give a better speech". i ended up having a worse grade than people who refused to give a speech, when i actually gave one. im having to retake the course but im doing so online. terrible professor in all.

I really enjoyed this class. He has a reputation as a harsh professor, but I found it to be the opposite. Don't act like a spoiled brat and you'll be fine. Also, don't miss class, turn your stuff in on time, and practice your speeches. If you follow his advice he gives on your speech critiques, you'll get a good grade. And have thick skin.

Although Dr. Reffue seems to know just about everything about everything and also voices his personal views and opinions about everything, he is actually a very good professor, overall. Definitely be aware that his attendance policy is excessive and over the top. If you miss class or are more than 5 minutes late, you are going to have issues.

Horrible class. He is one of those "Doctors" that couldnt get a real degree and feeds his ego off of young students not knowing informtation. He uses profanity in almost every class and calls students derogatory names. The worst professor on Campus hands down do not take.

Reffue was a joy to listen to. I took him over the 2-week winter session. It was pretty intense but he made it go by fast. I was extremely nervous to talk in front of an audience, but he makes you feel so comfortable. He is also great at remembering everyone's names . Be a good student, come to class(on time), do your homework right,participate

This man is just the best!!! I took him over the winter session. He made a very difficult class bearable. He is very clear with what he expects. Do your work as told and come to class on time, you will do great.

This is one professor who will condemn you if he feels you are smarter than he needs you to be. He thrives offbof the young students and that is what feeds his ego. He will turn your speech into his as soon as you are finished speaking. Real talk, he is a hater and only passes those who kisses his PhD.

He is not an understanding person, does not answer emails / is not easy to contact. I had shown up to office hours and he told me he was too busy and that he couldn't help so, I made a verbal agreed meeting time for another office hours, and he didn't even bother to show up or contact me to cancel. Does not care if you're nervous or need help.

Doctor of what? I mean really. He sends out this pro-Clinton letter that is so obviously written with the help of Democratic National Party and is so intellectually shallow. They print "Doctor" as if he is a physician; the guy has a PHd in Communications of all things!

Dr Reffue is a god. The greatest professor I've ever had and let me explain why. I took his speech class despite having SEVERE anxiety. I get panic attacks from people making eye contact with me. And I still got an A in his class because he personally worked with me to overcome the issues that ALL OTHER professors would rather punish/flunk me for.

I was nervous about taking Public Speaking but Reffue does a good job in preparing his students to write a well organized speech. His grading is tough but fair, so if you put in the work to research and practice your speech you'll do great in his class. Note that attendance is mandatory and you won't pass unless you go to class.

He expects perfection, no one is perfect. He is a know it all. He is rude. Makes you feel small. He needs to see a therapist and deal with childhood issues. Do not take this class, he is ridiculous.

Professor Reffue is an wonderful professor. He really cares about his students and he make you work for your grade which is a good thing because it will help you define who you really are. The class is wonderful and I would advise anybody to take it. You would truly enjoy it no doubt.

Great Teacher! He is harsh when grading your speech so read a couple chapters before preparing a speech. He genuinely cares about his students and is very opiniated on any topic. Be prepared to fully back up your research because he will question it.

Dr. Reffue is a wonderful instructor! Don't let the first day of class intimidate you; he really is a very warm-hearted and caring person who genuinely wants you to succeed. If you have a bad habit of being late or skipping classes, do not take his course. It's college- do the work, go to class, care about your education and you'll succeed.
