Interesting guy and cool lectures. Does come off as a bit arrogant, but really knows his stuff of globalization and history. Can get nit-picky when it comes to grading, heavily class-based participation.

John Savage is a great teacher if you want to learn a lot about history and globalization. Would not recommend if you are not interested AT ALL because he assigns lots of readings (up to 50 to 70 pages each night) which might either seem interesting or boring. He is very sarcastic and straight to the point. Love his personality. Would take again.

Excellent professor. Can be a bit dry and sarcastic, but in a humorous way. Nothing bad. Yes, there is a lot of reading, but the primary documents are interesting and the lectures bring in a lot of visual and music examples that bring basic history to life, and really help things to be more vivid and memorable. I liked the class a lot.

Totally underrated. Very sarcastic but a brilliant professor and an awesome guy with a super interesting life. He's soft-spoken which comes across as monotone, but he is very knowledgeable. If you respect him and his course, he very easily can be the best professor you have.

Not a good idea to take as a morning class. I love history but I was bored out of my mind and stuggled to stay awake every single class. The TA was far more helpful and an overall better teacher than the professor.

the class isn't particularly HARD, just a lot of reading for the class, and his study guides aren't all that helpful either. but do the reading, study for the tests, write the essays, and you shouldn't have too many problems. but if that doesn't sound good, don't take his classes.

Nice guy. But he assigned thousands of readings. The classes were made up of discussions and lectures. Both of them seemed to be dry. Yet, no one can deny that Professor Savage is really well-informed about the subject. And one can learn a lot in the class if he's interested in it. Great prof and good class!

Not the easiest history teacher at Lehigh but if you get your readings done, participate in class a bit and don't fall asleep blatantly all the time you'll be fine. He's very helpful with papers and grades fairly. Also he's pretty hot for an older guy. Just throwing that out there.

This class was the freshman seminar. He's a pretty boring teacher, very monotone, not very engaging which led half the class to sleep by the middle of the lecture. Very knowledgeable about the topic but very dry. A LOT of homework, which mainly consisted of reading texts and writing a few papers. 1 test which was the final, all essay.

Best professor at lehigh. Not the most entertaining, not the most personable. but if you like the substance, his presentation really makes you think and makes you truly interested. i never thought id be so compelled to write a 25 page paper on women in the french commune of 1871 but i actually enjoyed doing in. take him.
