Instructor was constantly ill prepared continuously made mistakes while teach in front of the class. It is kind of hard to learn when the instructor is learning on the fly.

He can be difficult to follow during lecture because he presents a lot of material and very quickly, but re-watching the lectures is really helpful. He can be condescending, but ultimately he is really knowledgeable and you'll get a lot out of the class.

Best chemistry professor. He makes you THINK and not just memorize chemistry. Take this class if you want to learn. Otherwise, go ahead and take regular orgo. You won't learn half as much, even if you do get an A.

Comment:

Snyder is one of the smartest people I've ever met, and is great at explaining the underlying concepts of chemistry. Most teachers will just test you on how well you can memorize the mechanisms of organic, but Snyder stresses the theory that really makes everything possible. I'm lucky to have had him for this class, and I've learned a lot.

Some people like Prof. Snyder, and some can't stand him. If you enjoy science and want to end the class with a thorough understanding of orgo, take it with Snyder. He isn't an easy A, but you will come out of the class with a great knowledge of orgo, which will help a LOT in future classes. Hes an incredible lecturer, and helpful in office hours

Snyder is one of the best professors I've ever had. Take his class if you actually want to UNDERSTAND orgo. If you're just taking it for a requirement and want the answers given to you take Rubio. Snyder actually CARES and his explanations are amazing. I never went to lecture but still got an A from online lectures. And Kyle is the best TF ever!

Absolutely horrible professor. I did well in the class, but dont expect to do well if you arent willing to go to office hours and spend twice as much time as you should studying things again. He gets easily distracted by irrelevant questions and his lectures end up as just random facts about organic chemistry By far the worst professor I have had.

I was warned that he is the hardest Orgo professor at BU (which I believe is true after taking his class and comparing it to other orgo classes) but you can do well!! He is a brilliant guy and cares about his students. Work hard, re watch the lectures online, go to office hours. If you did poorly in gen Chem, you can still do well in Orgo.

I started off the semester hating this guy, BUT then I realized all of his lectures were recorded! Once I was able to pause & replay him, I realized this guy is actually incredible. Great professor, really knows his stuff. Expect to put it A LOT of work, pay attention to lecture, and go to office hours. Started the class with a C, ended with an A-.

All I can say is GO TO OFFICE HOURS. He moves at the speed of sound pretty much the whole semester, but he is actually a wicked nice guy and he really wants his students to do well if you ask for his help. Also, go back and listen to his lectures after class if you can! It will help a lot. Overall a really great professor.

Prof. Snyder is an amazing Professor. His lectures are challenging at first but once you learn to keep up with him, he is much easier to follow. GO TO OFFICE HOURS because if you don't understand something, he will make sure that you do before you leave. He is a professor that truly cares about his students and wants all of them to succeed.

Professor Snyder is an amazing lecturer. The class itself is very difficult, with a ton of material covered in each lecture (so do not miss class!) but he explains it all very well. His tests are fairly straightforward and also very fair, so as long as you know the material, you'll be fine.
