Avoid this guy unless you REALLY like history and you're in the mood for a lot of off-topic rambling, liberal rants and bashing of the right. You wind up teaching yourself most of the stuff you need to know for the tests and I wasn't fond of the 7th grade social studies map assignments.

I've taken this professor two times already and he is one of the laid backed teacher's I have had. First he really curves his grading, I believe if you get like 86% that would equal an A. He gives out map assignments and essays which is due on test day. His tests are so easy, so everything is right there for you. It's pretty easy to pass the class.

Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. Frequently goes off topic, makes you memorize 46 terms per test, and if you don't teach yourself you are screwed. The only good part is that he doesn't take roll so you can skip as much as you want. Thankfully he is retiring. =-=

not the best professor, but his class is considerably easy. attendance is not taken, no hw, goes off topic every 20 min for 20 min, talks alot about us govt/politics. grades are based off of 1 map assignment and three exams. basically learn by yourself through the textbook and handouts he gives, lectures are a bit helpful. very easy class to pass

Gets very distracted during lectures, often going off topic for up to twenty minutes. Not a whole lot of actual, relevant material covered. Needs to retire. Soon.

He is probably the worst professor I have ever had teach a class. It is the only class I have ever dropped and he often has negative comments about The United States. Way too often gets far from the topic being taught. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!

He changed the dates on the assignments and mentioned it only once. He gets off topic alot during his lectures and doesnt answer your question. He grades based on three exams and five essays. If you dont feel like writing dont take his class.

Takanikos is on the edge of retirement and clearly doesn't care anymore. He rambles in lectures and doesn't cover everything in his syllabus and study guides. You can get a good grade in his class with a bit of self-direction, but you won't learn that much. If you need general ed credit, take the class. If you're a history major, don't.

Not too sure what to think of this guy. He gets off topic quite a bit, usually lasting the whole class period. Inconsistent with due dates, which is annoying! Somehow I got a B in the class after getting C's on all the tests and not doing the final because he changed the date and announced when i was gone and never mentioned again.

If you're ever lucky enough to be able to take this man's class, try to learn & remember as much as you can about life from what he is kind enough to share with you in class and out. This man should also be a professor of Political Science. Of all the History teachers and professors I've had in life, none has matched up to him yet.

just don't take him. this dude talks NONstop for an hour and a half and way more than half the time he is off topic. i seriously timed it once. he was on topic for 2 minutes and off for 23 minutes then back on for another 3. there is no class participation. ya he's easy but it's a total waste of time.

this teacher loves to talk about himself and how he can beat any one down in politics. barely talks about history, very easy to get him off topic. he helps out a little with the maps. gives you a guide of what the semester will be like. grades easy on the papers for the tests. lots of ID's but you have them since you start the class,so thats on you

This class was a waste of time. What disappointed me most, Takinikos is brilliant..he has all the knowledge...but instead, he talks about himself..or rambles about politics. I didn't learn anything! Exams consist of 2 papers and ID'S. I memorized, but he gives you a million ids, so I could only memorize so much. I got a B. Yeah. Not the best class.

His classes definitely are not easy by any means... he gives you a lot of work and expects you to KNOW what you are tested on. Welcome to college... I like knowing I got my money's worth and learned something. For the people who complain about memorization, the point is to learn it, not memorize. Pay attention in class.

Of all the comments, no one seems to mention how much this professor talks about himself, and many other subjects besides ancient history. I got an A, but I studied. The IDs are given at the beginning of the semester, so my advice would be to do them ahead of time so you don't get caught with your pants down come test day.

full of intelligence. maps and ids are crazy - but interesting and worth the time and efforts if u don't hate history. read the text if u don't want to show up in classes. he didnt take rolls. but it's definitely a great loss if u don't show up and listen to his lecture. a lot of Xtra credits. i'm taking his 302 next semester.
