Fun, goofy prof. Likes to tease and joke. Explanations are good but not always crystal clear. Sometimes he does too much plot summary and not enough analysis. A 97% and up is an A, but tests are very easy. Reasonably good prof overall.

Ok, so he's a nice guy and all BUT he is so unclear about things. You read a story, and he rumbles on about a story for minutes (so useless). When he writes on the board it's like trying to understand a foreign language! His tests are hard and he shows no sympathy to his students. I wouldn't recommend taking his class.

Thoroughly disappointing course. He doesn't lecture, he has no sense of tact, we reread half of the assigned reading again in class and he asked random questions. We spent 30 minutes on the 'ideal qualities of a man' to see how that measured up to a character. Ridiculous for a 300 level class. Grading system is ridiculous 90-94 is a B.

If you are going to take creative writing, make sure you take Timmerman. His classes are actually enjoyable to go to. If I didn't have the class I would probably still show up, it is that fun. He really lets you cut loose and write about what ever you want, so long as you make a good story about it.

If you write a good first paper, you're good for the class. If not, you will have major difficulties. Does not teach grammar well and avoids questions you ask. If you can get him to tell stories, he loses track of time and class is interesting. Otherwise, class is boring and you don't learn much.

Prof. Timmerman is a very funny guy. I am an engineer and I hate enlgish classes, but I truly enjoy going to his class. He is a little crazy, and he is out there, but you'll never be bored. Classes fly by. Tests are tough, but BUY and BRING the text to class, and you'll do fine.

Really nice guy, very kind. Not a very good prof: he sometimes tells long, boring, irrelevant stories; he does not analyze a text, but merely goes over the plot; he randomly calls on people in class. On the positive, he does seem interested in the material and knows a lot about the background of the authors.

Prof Timmerman is a great guy. He always tries to make his students sound intelligent, and loves good conversation in class. The tests were kinda hard, but having an ADD prof is pretty fun. If you like to talk in class, you should definitely take Timmerman.
