He isn't going to sugar coat it. He's the real deal with true passion for image making. If you need your ego stroked, go elsewhere. John has LOTS to offer if you have half a brain to listen to him. He has been involved with Minor White, and some of the greats. Truly an asset to UDel. His own work is 'odd' but that is what makes him an artist.

Your grade's based on his unpredictable opinion; he finds some most unaesthetic photos brillant and ones you'd expect to be good, crap. It seems this guy was just making stuff up on the spot. I've noticed the people with better cameras got more praise. How much effort you put into the class does not matter since it's all his opinion anyway.

he's cruel and his own "photography" is horrible. he plays favorites, and those he likes best tend to be the worst artists. it's possible he has a sever chemical imbalance.
