well.. be ready to print things for every class and if you don't have it then you get points off.. if you are one minute late to class you get points off... she is not too hard of a grader but the class is a lot of work. she's quirky. plus you need like 50 billion childrens' books, but just go to the library to rent them, waste of money to buy them

It's possible to get an A for this class but, you have to work hard for it. She has specific guidelines and expectations which you should follow EXACTLY. Always go ABOVE AND BEYOND for what she asks for on assignments. 2 pages double spaced? Go for 3 or 4. Minimum of 5 books? Go for 7 or 8. Overall, it was a interesting class but it was stressful.

Worst prof. I have ever had!! DO NOT take her if you don't have to. She is very difficult to approach for any problem/concern. Work overload and I felt so overwhelmed and stressed throughout the semester because of this class/teacher.

At first she seems like the nicest person in the world..wait until the semester goes on. She told me i should drop the class when i asked for help on my paper, she is a tough grader and quite aggravating but the class isnt hard and you read picture books the whole time

YOU WILL SURVIVE!! don't worry its not impossible, you can even make it out with an A. I was terrified to take her and i did great. It is alot of work so don't take her if you already have 5 classes. Start your portfolio ASAP, ask questions bc its confusing and overwhelming at first. She's kinda crazy but she cares.Super easy final. NO CELL PHONE!!

Dr.Johnson is really not as terrible as everyone makes her out to be. Yes, there is A LOT of work for this course and she does have high expectations but you are told everything the first day of class. Get the portfolio reading done right away and don't be afraid to ask questions. She is a little 'out there' but believe it or not, she does care!

A LOT OF WORK!!!!!! If you don't have to take this class I highly recommend not taking it (at least with her) unless you want to read 25-30 books in a semester( not an exaggeration). She is nice and does give extensions on things, but it's a huge work load when you have a full semester of classes

AHHHH!This class made me a crazy person! The work load is just entirely too much! I had to take her as an el ed major, and there's only 1 other teacher. TIP: stay on top of your portfolios!!!! The info in the class is really helpful but she expects way too much. 1 good thing though is that she will give you extensions.. way too stressful though!

i am a health and PE major and needed a lit class...i would advise anyone who isnt doing elem ed to NOT take this class. i had a full load this semester and this class was more work than all 4 of my other classes. you read all semester long. i feel good about reading a book now but other than that it was just unnecessary and just way to much work.

Very hard and a lot of work. We had to read 21 books outside of class for portfolios on top of reading about 10 books for class. Thinks this is your only class. If you don't get your readings done early, you will burn out quick and won't do well. Says she doesn't give out A's. She's very intelligent, but very particular and demanding.

I thought I was going to fail this class but ended up with an A-. Dr. Johnson is a little stern and her courseload is a little crazy but as long as you stay on top of the portfolio you will be fine. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! She's one of those teachers who thinks that their class is your only class. She takes away too many points off for stupid stuff. She gives a 16 book portfolio on top of reading books in class simultaneously. I think i've also killed about 5 trees while in that class from all of those print outs. DON'T TAKE HER!!!

The work load IS a lot, but as long as you keep up with it you will be fine! This is college...you SUPPOSED to be spending about 2 hours outside of the classroom for every credit the course consists of. Her course teaches you a LOT about children's literature and it is very interesting! And Dr. Johnson is very sweet and very enthusiatic!
