Jon is the best literature professor you'll find. He is easy going, very funny, but he has high expectations. I read some of the things people said, and it's not true. He does give A , only when a student really deserves it, he knows how to recognize hard work, and always gives feed back. I took 2 of his classes, and plan to take the 3rd.

I Laughed more in his class then watching a comedy show; ONE IMPORTANT THING IS HE IS A TOUGH GRADER'''LET ME SAY THAT ONE MORE TIME (((TOUGH GRADER))). If you expect to get an A+ in one of his essays; your more likely getting a B-. I wouldn't take him again but I did have a lot of fun!

This professor has the largest ego on the planet. I learned from him only by struggling immensely. He wasn't helpful when I needed it and he disregarded my disability paperwork like stale bread at the grocery store. Dr. Burton is quite arrogant and one of the most challenging professors I've ever had. He did teach me something, how to survive.

Burton is a great instructor and I have been lucky to have him for both 111 and 112 Honors. He places emphasis on students making their own inferences about the readings, so be prepared to leave sparknotes at the door. He has taught me how to truly understand fiction and find enjoyment in reading between the lines :)

Comment:

He's a nice guy who has a good sense of humor and who doesn't take himself too seriously. His main flaw is that he isn't a fair grader. I consider myself a decent writer, but all he gave me for my essays were Bs. Also, his reading selection isn't very good and he is not as thorough in teaching the subject as he should be. I don't recommend him.
