Although Dr. Lopez-Gonzalez received his backlash from the beginning of the course, he made it EXTREMELY fair at the end, when considering grades earned. I am pretty SURE NO ONE FAILED. With that in mind, respect the man, as he would like to preach his righteous word of Latin American Politics.

Not the easiest to understand and he's unorganized. His lectures are long, he spends a good portion of the class rambling. He says participation matters, but then gets frustrated when you answered incorrectly. Isn't clear on what he wants on tests and posts study guide late. However, he does post outlines for each chapter of the textbook.

Nice guy ,really knows his stuff and is passionate about it. 3 tests a final and attendance are your whole grade. Tests all memorization of the book. Everyone failed the first two tests so he dropped those grades and only counted test 3 and final for end grade and made the exams open book. Very hard to understand and does not make thoughts clear

Very easy, 4 tests and a final. Just read the study guides while making references to the material as needed. Heavy accent.

Extremely, extremely easy! Very light reading and his tests are pretty much glorified vocab tests. Attendance is mandatory and we had 4 tests and one final. Thats all. The final wasn't cumulative. The material is terribly boring, but it was a perfect, easy Gen Ed. I'd recommend for an A, unless your stupid.

Prof Lopez-Gonzalez most likely has a great lesson plan. The problem is that he never follows it. He is very hard to get a clear answer on. Dont be fooled when you see he has three exams and no papers. His exams are the worst kind of fill in the blank you have to memorize passages from the text or fill in 5x8 grid graphs. I suggest staying away.

This man CANNOT teach! He is confusing and BORING. The entire class complained about him all semester long. Our only grades come from exams, which is not fair! His exams are confusing--he had us just fill in blanks in the middle of sentences and memorize bulleted points. Hard to follow along if you don't have prior knowledge of the subject area.

i have mixed feelings, he is nice and is passionate about teaching, but incredibly boring. He makes study guides that are pretty much the tests. He is inconsistent with the syllabus and just does what he wants. The final is what i'm really bitter about. A 20 point test that is worth 50% of the final grade. I had a 100 now i have no idea

To put it bluntly, this professor is not very good at all. Sure you read the comments saying he is easy, but the biggest problem he has is the weight of each exam. I had over 100% on each exam and I bombed the final which turns out to be 60% of our grade...I don't think thats fair at all. You could do well all year long just to fail. Quite unfair.

EASIEST CLASS EVER!!!!! I got over 100% in it because he gives a lot of extra credit on his tests. I didnt pay attention, because he was boring and I never read the book. Write what he tells you to write down and GO TO CLASS and if you dont get an A then there is no hope for you.

Passionate about the subject. Very knowledgeable. Attendance is mandatory but class is interesting. Three exams and a non-cumulative final. Gives extra credit for participation. Easy A if you go to class and pay attention.

he has good intentions and is very passionate about the topics. doesnt speak english too well and lectures are pretty boring. Tests are very hard and he expects word for word exact answers. he does give alot extra credit if you ask which saved me. It does teach you alot and challenge you as a student. readings are mandatory!! good luck :)

You have to do ALOT of reading and reading and reading to pass the tests, and the people who do not understand that it is a PHILOSOPHY class not a POLITICAL SCIENCE class will make it unbearable because he has to explain things so simply, but it really challenged me as a student and I learned SO MUCH! His notes only go over the reading though so re

he is a sweet guy but tends to expect alot with not much lecture. Reading is must if you want to pass and the tests are impossible. He does offer extra credit and is very forgiving on that but attendance is mandatory. i would not recommend this class

Awful. It's not that his class is hard, or that he is strict on attendance. If you're a serious student, that stuff doesn't matter. The point is, this is supposed to be a PHILOSOPHY class. He teaches it like a history class and expects exact answers. He also makes no attempt to mask his Marxist bias. God, I hope he doesn't get tenured.

Tests are challenging and attendance is mandatory, make sure to fill in the study guides and as long as you can repeat what's on them (even if you don't understand what you're writing) you can pull off a good grade. nice guy, bit of an accent, not too bad.

There is a lot of reading involved, but if you do the reading and study the study guides he gives out you will do fine. He is a very generous grader and always gives extra points on tests to help students. I reccomend him.
